Angry Database Problem

After searching the FAQ and past threads, I know WHY I have the problem I do. I import discs on my gig computer before and after my show. I import discs on my home computer in my spare time. I am saving them on the same portable hard drive. The problem is the duplicate book id's. The songs are not duplicates, just the book IDs. I've got about 600 or so of my CDGs imported, with the majority of them imported on the gig computer, but still have about 100 or so discs that I imported at home. There must be a way to strip the book ID from the KMA file. Re-building the database does not create the new book IDs on the duplicates. A couple of the threads I read said that this was a feature of the new version. Where is it and how do I get it to change the IDs?

This feature will be in Hoster 3.300 when it is released, but this is not currently in any released version.

We are still working on this, so I am not sure when it should be released.

I just looked closer and I had duplicates reported in both databases. I used the next button every time for the bookID, so I don't understand how that is. Do you know what version of Microsoft Access the database is compatable with? I can open it with Access 2000, but it says it's an older version and wants to convert it before I can edit it. Out of curiousity, and lack of patience, I figured out how to combine the two databases and re-number the BookID field to correctly show all the songs I have imported. Problem is that it is now an unrecognized format (due to the conversion process). If I know what version of Access that it's compatible with, I have tol do it this way until the 3.3 comes out. I cannot spend the time to re-import all those CDs. Most were the new ones that are not in the master song database and were entered by hand, so you know how much time that took.

Thumbs up Problem Solved

What I did:

Rebuilt database on both imported collections.
Named unique - songs1.mdb & songs2.mdb
Opened songs1 in access, changed field bookid to numeric field
created new numeric field called bookid2
exported to Excell
opened in excell and defined value of bookid2 as "= bookid + XXX00" (xxx is the actual number of discs imported in songs2, so that songs1 will start with the next higher book ID when put back into hoster)
saved, and went back to access, created new database file songstemp based on excell file I just saved.
removed bookid field, then renamed bookid2 to bookid
saved.
highlighted all cells, copied, closed file, opened songs2
went to end, and pasted all cells
saved, then went to tools, database conversion, save as previous version.
named file songs.mdb and saved
copied to gig computer and placed in mtu/hoster/databases
opened hoster and IT ACTUALLY WORKED!

I've never used Excell or Access before this week. I gleaned what information I could from websites that I googled for pointers and this is what I came up with. It took me three days and a half a bottle of tylenol but I did it and it worked. I still had a few duplicates when I compiled each small database (about 15 in one and 100 in the other) but that is an acceptable loss compared to the 3000+ it was reporting initially! Now I can wait until the new version is available and still run my show without taking all my CDs now! YEAH!!!!

DJBRIAN,
No matter what you do, DO NOT REBUILD your Songs Database! If you do, you will lose all of these changes that you just made.

The information for the Songs.mdb comes from the Header files of the .kma files, which you can't update until Version 3.300 is released with this Merge feature.

Gotcha

I understand. I will have to import new discs within hoster on the one computer only. I have made a backup copy of my database and locked it as read-only. It should work for me, but it wasn't exactly easy and I don't really recommend it to anyone else for just a few duplicate book id's.
