Import Tracks
In Microstudio, in the Import Tracks tab, most of the cds will import a few tracks and then slow down or hang. These are brand new, in perfect condition and if I use disc copy, it will copy ok. Is there any way to solve this problem, or is this just a bug that hasn't been worked out yet?

Re: Import Tracks
Humm.... never had exactly this reported before that I'm aware of. Thus, I don't suspect it is the software at first diagnosis.
Usually when we see any loss on playing discs, it is on tracks 7 or higher, viewed when the original disc was made on very poor media with low reflectivity vapor-deposited metal layer, or the silkscreen backing had holes, pits, etc. that don't provide a uniform backing for the reflective metal layer. I remember talking to a client years agon who was importing new Sound Choice discs that took ~25 minutes per track! It turns out the original master disc was such poor quality it took many, many, many read attempts per disc rotation to get the data for each track. Thanks for posting that "Duplicate Disc" works OK. That is important, albeit confusing. That says the drive is identified by the software, able to read the entire disc, the laser probably doesn't need cleaning... so what's left? ![]() 1. What is the Brand and Model # of the CD Recorder you are using? That could shed light on this. If the laser intensity is low, that also could cause a low signal return that is hard to decode the data from. 2. What is the Brand name of the discs you are importing? If they are all the same Brand, please try several other brands and report your findings back here. 3. You indicate "most of the discs" Are you talking... 3, 5, 15, 30, 50, 100... how many are having problems? How many have you imported that don't have any slowdown? 4. Have you tried slowing down or speeding up the Reading speed? It is done in the Tools menu Speed Selection... command. Let us know the results. |
