One last video question - I am stumped

Folks,

I have everything back up and running, only I'm back to the same old problem.

Here's what I am doing.

I hook up the singers display TV to the PC, and plug in the TV.

Turn the TV on.

Boot up the PC (at this time, I can see the PC display on the TV as well)

As soon as the desktop comes on my PC screen, the TV screen goes blue, like it lost the signal.

The TV is set to extended desktop mode, not Clone mode.

PC screen is primary, TV is selected as secondary.

What am I missing here? It has to be so obvious that I can't see it.

What is different now from when MTU sent me the PC. There has to be something selected that shouldn't be, or vice versa.

Hoster will not display lyrics on the TV. I have gone through the manual, troubleshooter, every bit of documentation I can find, and I do those things, they say it should work, and it doesn't. This is amazingly frustrating. And, I know that it's probably just me missing something, but I'm at a total loss here.

Can someone please help?

Suggestions, please?

You don't have a TV/VIDEO selection on the tv that might accidentally be on the wrong setting, do you?

Re: One last video question - I am stumped

it almost sounds like a powered by ATI video card. i know its an MTU PC.

could be a bad video card.

i would go to best buy and purchase a new card for testing purposes. if this is your problem then send it back to best buy when MTU sends you a new video card.

Re: One last video question - I am stumped

Since MTU were the one's who initially advised against the use of "Powered By ATI" video cards and stressed they were problematic, it's not too likely they would use them in their products.

Re: One last video question - I am stumped

Try going into the Device Manager and selecting the Video card and see if there is a problem reported.

Have you down loaded and Device Updates from Microsoft? If not have you down loaded any updates from then right before the screen went out?

You can go to the Manufacture web site and see if there are updates for the card as well.

Since it starts out correctly when Windows boots have you tried to change the resolution on the screen? You may have changed that to one that it does not support.

Just some thoughts.

Re: One last video question - I am stumped

Some things to look for:

Set the right Video Settings on the TV, Video 1, Video 2 ------
Check the computer Display settings make sure it is on Multiple settings. It may read
"1 (Multiple Monitors) on MOBILITY RADEON 9000"
Click the arrow to see if there may be other choices to choose from, try another choice.
Look in the Advance/Display window. See if the PC is set as No1 and the TV is set to No2.
Click on the Display/Scheme there may be other settings to choose from.

I found that it is a little tricky to understand and set. I would like to use it as single display at times, but do not want to disturb the dual settings. even though I can use Ctrl/F5 to switch, I think.

Re: One last video question - I am stumped

Thanks all for all of your help.

It's a real ATI card from MTU. I have the latest drivers from ATI for it.

I don't "think" the card is bad, but I could be wrong. When I change the TV to primary, I can see the computer display there.

Everything works except the lyrics from Hoster.

I will try some of these suggestions. Just got home from being out of town, so sorry I could not respond sooner.

It really has me stumped.

I'm thinking there is something set in there that shouldn't be set that way, but I can't track it down.

Worst case, I'll go get a new card and install it. But, I don't think it's the problem.

It started not working the minute I loaded Hoster 3.000. Then, when I went back to 2.219, I still didn't work.

Probably just a coincidence, but I had a lot of wierd things happen with the PC shortly after that.

Almost with I could have someone look at it via remote assistance.

Thanks folks, you are the best.

Back to debugging.

Re: One last video question - I am stumped

Before you make an investment in a new card, in Device manager click Display adapters and see if the Card adapter's icon is yellow. If so it means you have to install it again. If no conflicts are found, I would think it is in the settings not the card. Take it to a computer specialist if you can't set it yourself.

Re: One last video question - I am stumped

No conflicts.

One thing I did do just now.

I went through the directdraw tests on the Display 2, and they all checked out fine on my secondary monitor.

That pretty much rules out a bad card, and narrows it down to settings that effect Hoster, I believe.

Re: One last video question - I am stumped

Tymzend,
If you are getting the Blue background when the computer actually comes into Windows, is this what you see on your computer monitor also, minus the Icons? If so then this part is working. Try setting a Desktop Image, by Right clicking on the Desktop, where there is no icon, left click Properties. Then left click on the Desktop tab. Here select on of the Backgrounds. Then click Apply. It should now show this picture on the Desktop, with all your Icons on top of it. It should only show this image on the TV, with No icons.

Is this working? If it is then we might need to delete some Registry Keys that got messed up under Hoster in the Registry.

Re: One last video question - I am stumped

That's exactly what I see. Desktop shows up fine on the TV.

I believe it is registry problems as well.

I went ahead and reloaded everything, just waiting for a registration problem to be fixed, than I can reload Hoster and try it out.
