Importing CDG files that are already on my hard drive
I am seriously looking at hoster, but need to know if my 2000+ tracks have to come from CDs, or can I import them from my External USB Hard drive which is where they all live for use in Microstudio at the moment. I have been looking at the demo of Hoster and cannot see any facility to import them from anything other than a CD. Having imported them all once as CDGs I would not relish the idea of doing the same again.
Has anybody had a similar problem, and is there an answer??? |

Re: Importing CDG files that are already on my hard drive
as of right now you have to put them in from cdgs
but sooner or later i think they are going to put this feat in but for now you will have to import them again |

Re: Importing CDG files that are already on my hard drive
While I do not know the way Hoster will handle the import of .cdg files (imported from Microstudio), I can only imagine you will have to type in the names and artists, or select each individual song, and import one at a time. Since there is no real naming standard (thus far) when importing with Microstudio, there is no way for Hoster to know what song is what. I do know everyone's time is valuable, but I feel the time spent importing from discs is worth it. The benefts that Hoster brings to a karaoke show is well worth the effort. Personally, I would rather select one disc and import the 8+ songs on the disc, than have to type in each title/artist or select each song and import individually. Remember the import time will be the same no matter what (The actual time the computer spends reading/writing the files), only the amount of user input will vary, and at this point, I can see more user input needed for .cdg files than for disc. So it may actually take longer for .cdg files than it would to import from a disc.
Again, I can't say this is the way it will be for sure. Perhaps the folks at MTU will come up with a clever way of recognizing previously imported songs. Let's hope so. Just a few of my thoughts, Flip |

Flip, you hit the nail on the head.
simonlang, bite the bullet, import from your CDG's. It will be time well spent. Gary |
