Hoster overwrites all entries in play list with one!

Hi,

I just installed my 2.219 Hoster upgrade, and used it for a show last night. During one song, I was adding a song to the playlist, and then moving it up in the list from the bottom. Unfortunately, I somehow got TWO entries highlighted (or something), because suddenly the program hung, the display on the song that was playing (and the person was singing!), and I couldn't click on anything. I then got a message that hoster had a problem and needed to shutdown.

I restarted Hoster, and opened it back up. To my horror, the entire playlist (I had about 40 songs in there), had been over-written, from the one I was moving, to the bottom of the list, by one song, I think it was the one I was moving, or the one above it... not sure.

I had to re-create the songlist all over!

I tried to reproduce this today, and cannot figure out exactly what keys or clicks I did.

Anybody have any clues what might have happened, or had this happen to them?

Where do I report this to MTU?

Thanks

I've tried a few times to recreate what you speak of and can't get my system to do it. No sure what to suggest. Did you ever come up with anything else or any further clues?

Re: Hoster overwrites all entries in play list with one!

No, I cannot yet reproduce it, but it kind of scares me. I backed up my playlists (I have several that I have created so I can vary songs I sing when I don't have "customer" singers) to another directory, so I can bring them back in if it happens again.

Problem is, when it happened, I had a handful of songs set up for customers that I had to re-enter from my signup sheets...

As best as I can explain, I had a song playing for someone, and I was adding another song. I added it to the bottom of about 40 songs, and the one playing was about the 8th in the list. I then moved it up the list, but I think it didn't get exactly to the spot I wanted to drop it, so I had to "grab" it again and drag it up more. When I went to "drag" it that time, somehow I noticed TWO entries were highlighted BLUE, and my computer hourglass was "working" for a LONG time... then the song playing stopped the word display completely, but the music continued. Then the program errored out, and it exited (after I clicked OK on the message "this program has encountered a problem and needs to shut down")... Upon re-entering, ALL the songs from the one I was moving (or the one playing... can't remember) were replaced by ONE song... all the ones above it (about 9) were OK.

BTW, this is on Windows XP Pro.

Re: Hoster overwrites all entries in play list with one!

Getting more than one entry highlighted in the Playlist has happened to me several times. But, I have not, during a show and while a Song is Playing, caused Hoster to Crash.

However, in testing further, I have created a sequence where Hoster will crash when more than one Song is highlighted AND a Song is Playing.

I will report the Sequence in the BETA Testers Forum.

I use a Full Size Keyboard.

I use the SHIFT+DELETE keys to remove Songs from the Playlist. I DO NOT use the DEL Key located on the Number Pad.

I use my INDEX finger to press the SHIFT Key and I use my MIDDLE Finger to press the DELETE Key. This leaves my THIRD Finger aligned with the UP ARROW.

While holding the SHIFT Key with your INDEX Finger, if you inadvertently Press UP ARROW Key, instead of the DELETE Key, it is possible to end up Highlighting Several entries in a Playlist, at the same time (ENTER + DOWN ARROW will highlight Multiple Entries as well), assuming you have more than one entry in a Playlist.

Until this is resolved, try not to cause more than one Song to be Highlighted at any one time.

If this occurs, simply use the OPPOSITE ARROW KEY to clear the extra Highlighted Entries. You can use the MOUSE to clear MULTIPLE Highlighted Songs by clicking, on ONE SONG AT A TIME, to turn the Highlight OFF.

Re: Hoster overwrites all entries in play list with one!

This sounds 'close', but I wasn't trying to delete, and I wasn't using the keyboard at all.

I was only using the mouse to insert/move a new entry, and somehow during the move process, two "showed up" as highlighted, and then BOOM... it locked up, crashed, and upon re-entry to the program all songs below that entry were duplicated with one song. Very strange.

I'm sure it will happen someday to someone else... just a matter of time. As a developer myself, I can say that this one will most likely be hard to find.

The engineers are looking into this, to make it so that Multiple songs won't beable to be selected on accident.
