Re: Can't Import with 2.219

I am having Import problems too! I triedc today to import the first two disc since I upgraded to 2.219. The path is correct in the import destination, Hoster sees the files, and when I open the folder with all the KMA's, I can find the imported songs. When I enter by disc and book number, Hoster sees the tracks and puts them in the song list, HOWEVER when I try to play the tracks I get no sound on some, and on others, the screen just blinks and it never plays the tracks. Hoster still play's all my other 16000 songs just find, just not these new ones imported under 2.219. What I have done so far is re-install the latest version of 2.219, this did not fix the porblem however. What should I try next? I don't know if it makes a difference, but I haven't installed SP2 for XP yet. I haven't heard difinitively that is is a safe upgrade yet. I tried importing on my other computer with the same version of Hoster and have none of these problems, However they persist on this onw

Re: Can't Import with 2.219

I have tried a couple other things with no success. I went back to pevious version of Hoster...still the same. I opened Microstudio to see if it was a problem with my Plextor...it worked fine, playes, burns, etc. Everything is working now in the program with Hoster, EXCEPT, no sound plays when the newly imported songs play...just graphics on the screen. All previously imported KMA files play flawlessly. I know this is not a Hoster issue, but darned if I can figure this one out. Any Thoughts?

2.219 Importing with no AUDIO

I posted parts of this in another forum (Admin moved them to above here). I am having a very unusual problem with the current Hoster when I try to import. I finally got it to import the two new disc and they work in every way except there is no sound. On one track, there was a very rude sounding pop right at the beginning and that was it, otherwise no audio. All previously imported files work fine, audio and all. I own two liscense of Hoster and on my other computer I do not have this problem as the same two disc import correctly. I checked under the tools menu and selected my plextor as the default drive and everything SHOULD be working but it is not. I tried to go back to an earlier version of Hoster and nothing changed. The drive is a plextor 24-48-24a. All functions in microstudio work fine. I can play, record etc. When I try to use the play from CDG function in Hoster I get the same results...it imports the song and all the graphics work but no audio. Any thoughts, anyone?

Re: 2.219 Importing with no AUDIO

I connected my external Plextor up the same cumputer in question and the files still have the same problem. It seems hoster is not recognising the audio portion of the file for some reason. I would think reinstalling hoster would correct this but it doesn't seem to work.

Unhappy Re: 2.219 Importing with no AUDIO

wow, as of this writing, 31 views and not one peep from the MTU community. This one has got me worried. I've tried updateing the ASPI drivers, reloading firmware, ect. Hoster sees the drive but it will only import the graphics. Microstudio still works flawlessly. Someone please weigh in on this one!

Re: 2.219 Importing with no AUDIO

We were swamped this afternoon. MTUSUPPORT should answer tomorrow.

Since one Hoster install works and the other doesn't this is pretty positive proof it is very much tied to the installation that is failing on the audio. This will be VERY DIFFICULT to diagnose as we can't duplicate the problem. Any and ALL facts you can come up with need to be posted. So far, you haven't given much facts.

1. Run DXDIAG and attach the log for us and others to review. That may show up what is wrong. I'm 100% confident this is a problem with your computer. However, once we identify what is wrong, we may be able to program around this so the problem won't disable the audio.

2. Is it only the last 2 discs you imported?

3. If you import other discs do they have the same problem? You only mention a problem with the "two new discs".

I combined your posts from the other Thread into this Thread as we don't need to answer this twice. Please, stay in one Thread. Creating a second one just confuses the matter.

Re: 2.219 Importing with no AUDIO

Thanks for your reply. Here's what I know so far:

1) The reason it is only the last two disc, is because they are the first two disc I have purchsed and imported since I upgraded. All the files imported prior to that time play fine.

2) I tried using a different external plextor 48-24a drive and produced the same negative results.

3) Microstudio still works fine with both drives that I have tried. So I know it's not an issue of the plextor drive going bad.

4) I tired re-installing/updating the firmware for the drives from Plextors, no change.

5) When I re-import a previously imported disc, it looses it's audio as well.

6) Occaisionally at the very beginning of an imported track a loud pop will come through the speakers for a split secound, and then nothing but the graphics with no sound, and on some tracks the graphics will show just for a second and then everything stops and the track deletes itself from the play list.

7) Like you, I am certain this is not a Hoster problem, but I don't know where to check next.

8) I know the new version of hoster I used to install with is fine, becase i saved the program to as removable USB drive ande used the same file for both my computers (I own two liscense), and it works fine in one and has this problem in the other.

9) Unfortunately, I tried to revert back to an older version of Hoster in the problem computer and I have the same problems.

10) Tracks played from the orginal disc have the same problem of no audio when played in Hoster.

These are all the things I've obseved and tried so far.

I'll send you the DXDIAG information tonight when I get home and maybe you can make some suggestions from there.

Re: 2.219 Importing with no AUDIO

Have you tried backing up the two new disc with microstudio, and then trying to install them with Hoster?
Could the new disc possibly may have some sort of copy protection?

Just thoughts!

Re: 2.219 Importing with no AUDIO

yes I have sound in other programs. I have two computers and the same disc will install flawlessly in one computer, but with no sound in the other. The disc have no copy protection other than multisession. Microstudio works with all functions on the problem computer, and all previously imported songs work fine on the problem computer. Yes I tried importing with microstudio first, and get the same effect.

Re: 2.219 Importing with no AUDIO

S.Parks,
When these 2 discs are imported, what are the file sizes? Are they what they should be or are they smaller than normal?

Re: 2.219 Importing with no AUDIO

The files are much smaller than they should be. For instance, at a ratio of 160k on one computer the file is 1142KB and on the other it is 5308KB so for some reason it is leaving the audio behind in the import.

Re: 2.219 Importing with no AUDIO

I noticed this on a computer here also once. When it happened Media Player had opened and was ripping the files into the computer as .wma, while Hoster was trying to import and this occurred.

Go and delete all of these smaller files off of your computer. Once you have done this, then Open My computer, Right click on your Plextor CD-R drive. Left click Properties, Left click the AutoPlay Tab. Select "Prompt me each time to chose an action", click Apply. You can also select Take No action, and then it should work.

This is what worked for me, let me know what you find.

Re: 2.219 Importing with no AUDIO

I tried both ways to "take no action" and "Prompt me each time" . The funny thing is, it wouldn't prompt me, and no matter how I set it, windows media player would see the disc and begin to rip it when I istalled a disc into the computer. I'm sure this is at the heart of the matter like you say, but these changes did not effect Hoster. The files still import without the audio. How do I tell windows media to stop this mess? I never changes any of my default setting, and the two programs used to play nice with each other. Any thoughts?

Re: 2.219 Importing with no AUDIO

Try this: (I'm using WMP 10.0)
Open Windows Media Player
Click on Tools at the top left
Click on OPTIONS at the Bottom of the TOOLS Menu
Click the RIP MUSIC Tab in the OPTIONS MENU
UNCHECK "Rip CD When Inserted"
Click APPLY
Click OK

Hope this helps,

Norm

Re: 2.219 Importing with no AUDIO

Thanks for the Suggestion Norm, but this did not correct the problem. This box is unchecked, but Windows media instist on starting to rip any CD as soon as it's inserted into the player. Any other thoughts?

Re: 2.219 Importing with no AUDIO

Under the TOOLS, OPTIONS tab above, select FILE TYPE, and uncheck WINDOWS MEDIA VIDEO FILE. That one is one of those I've unchecked in mine.

If that's not it, you may still find the culprit here. I'd go on and uncheck everything except WINDOWS AUDIO FILE, and if that solves the problem, you can start adding back until you find the culprit.

If that doesn't do it, then it may not be WMP.

George

Re: 2.219 Importing with no AUDIO

Thansk you for the suggestions, but none of this worked! WMP is persistant in wanting to Rip any disc that is inserted, no mater what type of files I tell it to look for. This is a scarey thing! I'm just about ready to back up all the files that are good, and reformat the computer and start from scratch unless someone has something else to consider.
