Unhappy Microstudio demo problem

I have downloaded the microstudio demo, to test my cd burner for the ability to burn CDG disks.

Then I click on the demo, I get
Microstudio MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. (I then click to send the error report to Microsoft)

The details include
Error signature
App Name: microstudio demo.exe App Ver: 2.6.0.5 ModName wnaspint.dll
ModVer 1.0.0.1 Offset 00002faa

2.53 GHZ pentium 4
512 Ram
hp cdwriter 40x10x40
windows XP home edition

(I've registered for the forum to post a message, but I have not received my registration confirmation instructions, and am unable to log in)

Any help would be appreciated. I am very interested in this product, but I need to test my current hardware to verify if I need to purchase a new CD drive. I'm also concerned that the demo won't run, and I want to ensure the full blown product will run on my system if purchased.

Upgrade you Windows

Microstudio uses many of the latest Windows updates. I suspect that you may need to run an update on your computer to overcome this MFC problem. I haven't seen this reported before, so I'm fairly confident it is not in the code... but one never knows. A single user reporting a problem... may be reporting a bug.

To update your Windows, connect to the Internet, click the Start button, then click the Windows Update link (mine in W2K is at the top of the popup menu). Follow the directions. Best to update all that is reported as needing it.

We are expecting to have Microstudio 2.607 out for beta testing tomorrow and its new demo out probably Friday. If all goes well, it should release by the end of August.

Unhappy

I have run windows update, and it shows I am current with all microsoft updates and patches. I have even reinstalled Direct X, but alas the demo still fails as before.

Re: Microstudio demo problem

Cachuela,
When you ran the Windows Update, did you only do the Critical updates or did you actually click on the Left hand side, where is states Windows XP? Then you have to manually go through the right side and select each of the updates.

Click on the Windows XP, and then select each of the updates that are shown on the right. Do this again and do all of the updates.

Re: Microstudio demo problem

Cachuella,
I am sorry, I missed the key information in your first post. The file that is crashing your system is the wnaspint.dll file.

What is causing this is something on your computer does not like our ASPI Driver. So what you need to do is a go to your Start Menu\Search\All files or Folders. Type in the name wnaspint.dll. You should find this file under the c:\windows\system32 folder. Delete this file.

Once you have deleted this file follow the instructions for Solution #2 here.

This should then fix your problem. You must follow these instructions exactly for it to work.

Unhappy Re: Microstudio demo problem

Hi, I'm back. I've bought and installed the Plextor PX-712A DVD drive from your website. I've dowloaded the latest microstudio demo. However, when I do a detect drives, it only sees my old CR rom and DVD (readonly) drives. The new DVD does not show up. (I am able to access the new drive via explorer, and roxio for disk copies).

I've tried installing the adaptect and nero ASPI drivers, but the results are the same. My Plextor drive is not detected in Microstudio. What an I missing? Do you have any more suggestions?

Re: Microstudio demo problem

I don't think that the Demo supports this drive yet. I am not 100% positive, but I don't think it does.

Question Re: Microstudio demo problem

Ok, so the question is. Does the full version support this drive?

I didn't want to buy the software (since it is expensive), unless I
was sure it would work with this drive.
PLMK
Thanks,
