![]() I was wondering if the majority of Hoster users are using a separate player to play any CDGs brought in by the singers? There was another thread that touched on this, but it is now closed. The title of that thread is: bring back edit ability to singer in play list. I am dismayed by this because I was hoping to eliminate equipment by using Hoster. Is it really not a good idea to use my DVD/CDG burner at shows to play the singer's discs? I'd like to know what others are doing and have experienced. Also, if you are using a separate player, would you include an explanation of how you are hooking both up to your TVs? I am usually using RCA plugs and wondered how everyone is doing their video connections.
Thanks for your help. I have yet to do a show with Hoster as I'm still loading my music, but I'm getting closer ![]() |

Re: Separate player for singer CDGs?
Of course we use or CDG/DVD "Reader," that, also, may happen to be a "Burner," at shows to PLAY Singer's Discs !
The only problem is if a Singer gives the KJ a MULTISESSION disc and wants the LAST CDG TRACK, on the disc, Played. Hoster CANNOT complete the process of READING and CONVERTING the Trk to KMA, for PLAY, because Hoster DOES NOT Support reading the LAST TRACK of a MULTISESSION Disc. So, I have Microstudio on my SHOW Computer to PLAY the LAST TRACK of a MULTISESSION Disc. Both programs cover every CDG scenario. Hope this helps, Norm |

Re: Separate player for singer CDGs?
I use a separate player (usually) for pretty much the same reasons sevekj stated in his post in the referenced thread. I have found that my plextor is much more sensitive and less forgiving than my JVC. If their disk is dirty or scratched it causes all kinds of crap to show up on the screen or if I overlook a mediacloqued disk or a VCD disk the program will crash. Sometimes the singer will give me the wrong track # and I'll forget to double check it, that slows things waaaaay up. As an added bonus when the current track/next track information is displayed at the top of the screen it tells everybody that it's not my disk which is helpful when it's a really crappy version of the song.
As far as how it's hooked up, it's just RCA's into a cheap video switcher for my 2 computers, CDG player and DVD player. And then an RCA out to my stage TV and an RCA out to an rf modulator then into the bars coax. Pretty much the same as when it was 2 cdg players and 2 dvd. As far as using less equipment I did get rid of 1 cdg and one dvd player but because nature abhors a vacumn I quickly found other things to fill the the space. Sam |

Re: Separate player for singer CDGs?
A Simple A.B C. Video Switch from Radio shack or wal-mart will do the trick. 3 in and 1 out. that what i used for my players. and it works with hoster and 1 or 2 players as well. Bob

![]() I have a VocoPro DA1050 mixer hooked in my rack unit. It has a source switch that I switch back and forth between the JVC or the computer at the push of a button.
