How do I change a backup computer?
Hi, I'm only running Hoster on my gigging computer at present. I would like to install it on my home computer as a backup, which I know is now allowed. However, my home PC isn't exactly state of the art... so if I do use it as a backup, and then upgrade it at a later date with new mobo, chip etc... will it still allow Hoster to run on it with the same registration?

Re: How do I change a backup computer?
It states in the Hoster manual that you can install a single license on a second computer (I cut an pasted in another thread somewhere). You definitely can't run two shows on two computers with one liscense. However, I have not ever seen much talk about the subject here. Personally I bought a second liscense to address this issue. I would love to here some members or admin give some guidance on the issue.

Re: How do I change a backup computer?
If you make too big of a change and/or too many small ones Hoster will think it is on a different computer and stop working for you (if the security acts like Windows). What the threshold is on that I don't know. If it came to that you'd certainly have to discuss your options with MTU.

Re: How do I change a backup computer?
Touchy subject.
![]() We can't reveal our security methods or we aid "the enemy" who is trying to crack our secuity all the time. I'll try to give you some guidelines to help you understand what you can/can't do without our help. The security consists of two parts: 1. Code embedded in Hoster's .exe program
2. Scripts and Databases at our web site
Our goal is to improve the security means so that you can "Transfer" your Registration Code from one computer to another, in the event you need to replace your computer. The problem will be handling the situation where your existing Hoster computer has died and Hoster cannot be "uninstalled and transferred". |
