upgrade nightmare

I recently upgraded my hoster from 2.0 to the newest version. In doing so, I've "lost" over 2000 songs which have to be re-imported. Say this isn't standard!! What did i do wrong? Can it be fixed? Trying to restore computer didn't work. This sucks major!!! HELP!!!!!!

Re: upgrade nightmare

UPGRADING shouldn't erase anything from your computer. do a database rebuild, tell the dialog box where the files are located, and they will return to the songbook.

Re: upgrade nightmare

You may have to rebuild the database.

Open Hoster.

Click in TOOLS.

At the top where it says SONG SOURCE FOLDER, make certain the path to the folder where you stored your imported tracks reads correctly. If not, click on SELECT FOLDER and correct it.

At the bottom where it reads SONGS DATABASE DESTINATION FOLDER, make certain it reads C:\PROGRAM FILES\MICRO TECHNOLOGY UNLIMITED\HOSTER\DATABASE. If not click on that SELECT FOLDER and correct it.(change the drive designation if you don't use C:...)

When that's all correct, click BUILD SONGS DATABASE at the botom of the screen.

Click OK on the next two pop-ups.

Hope this gets it for you.

George

Re: upgrade nightmare

Hope this saves someone else some head scratching. I used up almost all,of my 30 minute editing time limit in the above post. The smiley face kept popping up right in the midle of my text, and I hadn't asked for a smiley face.
I was trying to put a thought in parenthesis and it ended with the designation
C:in a ). No matter what I did I could not get rid of that smiley face until I realized the symbol for it probably was a : followed by a ).

Moral of the story, don't use any drive designation at the end of a phrase in parenthesis, or you'll get .....laughing now, wasn't then.

George

Hoster NEVER....... NEVER.......... NEVER......... deletes KMA files

Don't panic. Gduns and George are correct. We have done some major upgrades to the Registry Keys that hold the "persistence" data, such as where your KMA files are stored. I expect we goofed and changed this one. Sometimes Windows changes over time and we have to change also.

Sometimes we screw up.

But, your KMA files are NEVER deleted by Hoster. Don't you delete them!!!!!!!!!!

Moved to proper forum

This is Hoster, not Microstudio.

Let us know how you come out on the Tools menu Build Songs Database command. It WILL fix your problem.

Re: upgrade nightmare

always, always, always, backup, backup, backup, backup.
Did I mention backup.
Just in case, make sure your mtu and music is backed up on something safe before upgrading or tearing in to your computer.
