Hoster with audio files
Can I use Hoster for karaoke (CDG) and regular audio files (WAV, MP3)? In other words, can I use Hoster or some other MTU product to organize and present my DJ only (no CDGs) shows ?

Re: Hoster with audio files
Currently Hoster will only import CDG's from discs.
You can import .WAV files to your harddrive using Microstudio. Import them as CDG's(not audio), burn them to a disc, and then import them into Hoster if you want some music as a filler. Hope this helps, George |

Re: Hoster with audio files
Thanks George, but many of my shows are 90% straight DJ (WAV) CD music and I want to be able to "Host" the non-karaoke portion of the shows on my laptop (i.e., pull up WAV files and/or MP3 files as needed). Do you have any other software ideas that can go along with Hoster ? I've already imported thousands of music CDs to my PC thru ITUNES but I am looking for a more user friendly way of paying them back (i.e., mixing, sound balancing, etc.).

Re: Hoster with audio files
mcraig,
You might want tio take alook at a tool that is already on you machine. The Windows Media player. Spend a little time with that program and you will be surprized how well it would work for DJ'ing Best, Roger

Re: Hoster with audio files
I've never had a need to look into it, but understand Windows Media Player is quite versatile.

![]() Hoster 2.215 will allow adding WAV-WMA-CDG (on the hard drive imported by Microstudio) into a Hoster playlist. We are also working on converting MP3+G files and CDG files (from Microstudio) directly to KMA format and adding them into the Songs Database. We already have the WAV, WMA, CDG file retrieval and adding to the playlist operational. We are now adding the code to play these different functions. Target release is end of September. ![]() We have our two top programmers on this right now!!!!!! ![]() |

Re: Hoster with audio files
Not good for DJing but you can import songs off music cd's and save them as KMA's, of course there is no database and you have to assign a book id#.
Works well also for singers singing off a cd or an instrumental track on a cd, just import into your playlist like any cdg. For what little DJing I do (about 45mins once a week) I use winamp. I'm sure Media Player is good too but I could never get MP to open and play on my extended desktop for my vcd files and some music videos I use - so I just use winamp for all of it - except karaoke! Re: Hoster with audio files
I am using Windows Media Player right now, but I don't necessarily like it. Going to try out some other packages soon. Editing the playlist is not the best, and it tends to misfile songs, or screw up the alphabetical order of artists (not sure why). I also experience some breaks in the audio. Not often, but they do happen. I'm still messing with the cross fading function, trying to find a setting that works well for blending songs. Some songs start fading out 25 seconds before the end of the track, and the WMP cross fader only goes up to 10 seconds.
Little things like that..............

Re: Hoster with audio files
I do a little DJ work with my laptop from time to time and I use PCDJ. Red.
It works great and it works alongside Hoster 2.127 without any problems. I did have 2.212 but was experiencing audio dropouts with that version (with or without PCDJ running) so I went back to the version that works for me. Cheers ![]() |

I currently use media player for my dj music and have a folder dedicated to all of the wma files. Will there be a new data base to access or will it be able to search the computer or drive for such files and create it's own data base? Sevekj

Re: Hoster with audio files
Sevekj,
To answer your questions. 1) No Microstudio is not required to import into Hoster. 2) Once we have playback for .wma and .wav files, there will be no database. You will just go and open the file you wish to play in the playlist. It will then play, when it gets to that entry in the Playlist.
