Older Version

Has anyone gone back to using an older version of Hoster and how hard is it to do? I have repeatedly tried to get help on a import problem for some time now. Apparently I am the only one who has this problem. The older version worked great. The new version will not let me change and important an individual song without deleting the whole disc. The older version allowed this.

Thanks,

Kelly

Re: Older Version

you can reinstall an older version of hoster. just uninstall 3.0 and go delete the [default install folder]\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster folder.

dont delete your .kma's !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

then just reinstall the older version.

Re: Older Version

Kelly,

Did you try the method I suggested in the other thread? That just deletes one track, not the entire disc. Perhaps you misunderstood. You said you were going to give it a shot, but never responded that you had tried it.

TOOLS, EDIT SONGS, bring up the track you want, highlight it, and DELETE.

I know it works, because I tried it after posting it to you. It deletes both the .KMA file and the database file.

Re: Older Version

Yes I did try. It would not do as you say. I had to delete the whole disc to get it to work. I'm going to dlete Hoster and re-install and see if that will set things right. Thanks as always George.

Re: Older Version

Yeah, something's not right. That only pulls up the tracks you want, not the entire disc. Then you can change some of the paramaters, or delete a track.

Do you have all the Windows updates? Some problems have been cured by upgrading the os updates.

Re: Older Version

I was going to double check my facts before poosting this but I havent had a chance so I'll post it anyhow.

It sounds to me like
it has something to do with a database upgrade done several hoster upgrades ago where some brands were broken down into narrower groups. some disks are in there twice under different labels, for instance most of my sound choice spotlight disks were imported under "sound choice" (and are still located there) but after the database change I had to start importing new (new to me) disks under "sound choice spotlight" but to reimport one of my original spotlights I have to find where I originally imported from or i will get that book id in use message. I first dicovered this trying to reimport a song from one of the foundations that got moved.

Question: When you go to try and reimport that one track does the import screen show that it is already imported as well as the other songs on that disk?
If the screen shows that disk has previously imported, you should be able to reimport that trackwith no problems, If however it shows nothing has been imported then it means your looking in the wrong place.-it means you need to find where it was originally imported.

Just a thought
hope it helps
Sam

Re: Older Version

I removed Hoster and re-installed and all is working fine now. Something apparentaly never carried over when I did the last upgrade, and had just recently needed to import an old song of a different version. Thanks for everyone's help.

If the screen shows the track is IMPORTED, click the sel box to the left of that track to DE-SELECT it, then click it again and it will show READY to record over the prior version.

I don't think it is the BookID that is being replaced, but the DiscID associated with the Mfgr Brand.

Yes, when we changed from just Sound Choice to the sub-titles such as Foundation, Brick #1, etc. it did cause some confusion for prior users. However, it seemed to be the right way to go, and the lack of complaints after we did that switch indicates it was the right choice. I wish there was an auto-convert we could do, but that would be very expensive to write, and maintain.
