Question Video Display ATi Raedon

I'm having a very difficult time getting Hoster 2.014 Demo to reconize my Raedon 7000 dual display video properly. Hoster keeps running in single display mode even though I have both displays enabled. What do I set the TV at? I'm running Windows 2000 with SP4. The only options that ATi Display gives me is Primary and Cloned.

extend desktop to second monitor

you will have a checkmark that allows tou to extend windows over to the second display you have to check that box. Be sure and set your primary display to the computer monitor. I am not familiar with the 7000 ati I have tried the 7700 and it works ok, but they recommend the ati 9000 whick they sell here for about 109.00 with 128 meg of ram, not to bad a deal.

do exactly as gduns says.

1: with your mouse over an area of your desk top right click and select properties.

2: go to settings. what you should see is 2 monitors in the picture block.

3. click on monitor 2.

4. below the picture there should be 2 boxes you can click on.
the second box should have the words extend my desktop onto this monitor. click that box.

5. click apply.

at this point you should be in business.

but if it is PCI then this won't work as separate displays are not supported in the PCI version. only the AGP version supports separate dual displays. To achieve separate displays then you would have to have 2 video cards. I had the VE pci card which is supposed to be the 7000 on an old computer I had so that is how I found out about that info.

I have been using dual displays on cad/cam programs for over 10 years long before the agp cards ever came out. There are cards with dual head displays, and clone displays. but the nvidea should be capable of doing it if it has two display outputs.

I don't believe that this ATI card can do Dual Monitor support. Here are the Specs from ATI, and they don't state this: http://mirror.ati.com/products/radeo...000/specs.html

It will output to a Tv, but I don't think that it can do 2 seperate displays at once, as the 7500 or 9000 and above can.

Hope this helps.

Bryan,

You are correct. The ATI 7000 does not support dual displays.

The lowest ATI card that supports dual display is the 7500.

Best regards,

Jon

if you are running win 2000 you can not use the ati cards they do not support entend desk top mode.you can only use ati in xp or wind 98
the only card that will do what you want is matrox cards they are the only compy that write there drivers to work in win 2000 for entended desk mode
dont let any one tell you these are not good cards they are very good cards they work well with hoster we use them all the time
best one to use is millennium g550
modelg55+mdha32dr

Actually I had a ati Radeon 9000 128 meg and a msi gforce 440 64 meg. I kept the nvidea, and returned the ati because the nvidea card was Incredibly sharper on the screen. both screens. I figured the 128 meg card would be sharper, but boy was I wrong.

I have no problem using an extended display with this card under win2000 as I have extended the desktop to either 2048x768 or 1536x1024. Just not able to have seperate displays in Hoster.

i may be wrong but the 2048x768 or 1536 sound like clone resalouition if you were in intended mode res should be like 1024 x768 or you should be able to set lower if you can not set res for 1024x768 you are not in extended mode.
