Microstudio won't install

I had microstudio and have used it for some time. Recently, I had to use my recover disc. When I did several programs, including Microstudio, wouldn't work. I was told that if I download the newer version, it will work. So, I purchased and downloaded the newer version. I was told that it had to uninstall the old version first and then install the new one. However, I get the following error messages when I try to install it.

Error 1706: No valid source could be found for product Microstudio. Windows installer cannot continue

Error 1603: Fatal error during Installation

When I just try opening Microstudio it tells me this

The Microstudio.EXE file is linked to missing export DDRAW.DLL:DirectDrawCreateEx

I could use some help with this. What do I do? Thanks.
Steve

This DDRAW.dll error is because of the DirectX not being updated. You can see this error at: http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?threadid=1787
