read/write error

I have a plexor 8/4/32 cdr that i puchased from you. It has been wonderful. I had some computer problems and decided to get a new one(computer that is). windows 98 se, duron 1.2 processor--I'm running 256 ram. I then puchased a disc from you with microstudio v2.315, vgonne v2.104, karaoke home produce v3.100 and keyright v1.202---
I haven't tried all the feature of these programs because when i play a karaoke disc it freezes up and i have to reboot---I CAN save the song to the hard drive and then it will play just fine ! That's wierd. I CANNOT burn a full disc. some times 1 or 2 songs are burnable , but i get the old read write error Error: "write" comand failed on device 0:0:0 read/write error or bad medium detected (04h 00h 02h 03h 0ch 09h)
write behind cache has been disabled.but it won't duplicate period.
I looked at all the setting i first got from you guys and set the computer up that way--virtual memory, sysini , config with those buffers ,stacks, etc. But then I was thinking, I got those settings back when I bought disc architect--maybe they are different ? could you tell me why i can't copy cdg's , how to fix it or maybe I need new istallation instructions on my burner--I'm stuck--thanks

Mark,

It appears that you are having “Buffer Underrun” problems.

That means that your data is not getting to you CD fast enough from your hard drive.

The Plextor “8/4/32A” that you have is rather old and came out before the "burn proof" technology was implemented. These drives, although certified to burn CD+G are plagued by Buffer Underrun problems and produce more coasters than songs.

I suggest you buy a NEW burner, preferably one of the newer Plextor sold by MTU. MTU test every single burner they sell.

My other suggestion is that you try to slow down the writing speed to either 1 or 2x, sometimes that seems to help.

Good luck,

Jon

Upgrade

Mark, we released Microstudio 2.400 in January. You should have received four emails from our store when you purchased Karaoke Suite 4. Find the Microstudio one and click its download link. It will say mstudio2315.exe but it will deliver the 2.400 version now.

This has a lot of upgrades, and one of the bug fixes is a problem that existed in 2.315 that would make it not write more than 2 discs before causing a problem. That may also be what you are experiencing.

Jaddams is right in his assesment also, your drive is "very old" today and may be part of the problem. I agree with Jon's suggestions!

Muzikmark,
Please email this to Dougd@mtu.com. You should have gotten the Donwload link sent to your email, even when you ordered the disc. If you didn't keep this email, then you will need to purchase the upgrade from the website for $15.
