Question Burning Speeds for CD+Graphics Discs

I have been burning cd+g's for some time now at a speed from 1X to a max of 6X with great results. I have soooo many to do that I thought I read somewhere that it's actually better to burn at higher speeds so as to not overheat the disc?????
I have tried it at the higher speeds and NOT! Well, I tried a few at 16X and they seemed to be okay, but I noticed that I can now visually see where the data is burned into the cd. Before at the lower speeds it was not noticable. I tried ONE at 28X and it bombed completely. Microstudio said it recorded successful, but when I played it, it errored out and hung up everytime. A good coaster. Anyway, my question is what it the ultimate burning speed for cd+g's? I am using one of the Plexor models I purchased from MTU and I think it said it was good up to 48X

Thanks

Jerry
