STOP button

I have been using KHP for about a year now and I find it great. Until recently I have been using Windows98 as my operating system but i have just had XP installed (and extra RAM) and the PC goes like a rocket. However, I tried to do some new songs today for the first time since I got the computer back. When I have finished placing my lyrics the STOP button refuses to operate.

I checked the manual (getting good at that ) and it told me not to use the Control button on the last word. I obeyed, but it made no difference, still no go.

Any other ideas how I can overcome this problem? I'd be grateful for your help.

Best wishes

Still having problems

When I first posted this problem George advised me not to click Control on the last word, but to use the End button on my computer. This worked for a while, and I was happy.

However, it doesn't work any more, and I cannot save any song. It is extremely frustrating as I cannot use any of the tracks I have recently bought. I have only experienced this problem since I had XP installed. Is it an XP problem?

Would appreciate advice from Admin (or anyone else with info).

Best wishes

Lauraine, sorry the work around didn't last long. Strange.

One thing you might try while waiting for support, is to check the hardware accelleration setting. If it's wide open, try backing off two notches less than full. Then shut down completely for 5-10 minutes to clear out anything in memory. This cured a "freezing" problem I was having in KHP after combining XP with the Radeon 7500 card.

Take care,

George

Dear George

I have spent a frustrating amount of time searching for the hardware accelleration setting in order that I may back off a couple of notches, as you advise, but I cannot find it. I have consulted Martin and he cannot find it either. Would you be a good chap and lay a route for me follow? We would both be ever so grateful.

To Admin.

Since changing over to XP my KHP refuses to function properly. I have looked up the manual, but it's only advice is not to use the Control key for the last word, which I do not at present. I don't use it at all, and the vast majority of the time I still am not able to save the song. This is very annoying, and it's doing my head in.

I would seriously consider changing back to Win'98, except that I realise that all your future upgrades and new programs will soon leave out '98 altogether from your system requirements. If only I was in the position to have 2 computers I would have '98 and KHP on one and XP and everything else on the other, but alas, I am not. It seems to me that KHP and XP do not get along with each other as they should.

Can your wonderful programmers be put on to the problem? Surely I cannot be the only one experiencing these difficulties.

Thank you
Best wishes

Lauraine, sorry you're havingg so much difficulty. To get to the Hardware Acceleration settings go:
Control Panel
Display
Settings
Advanced
Troubleshoot
That's the path using XP and the ATI Radeon 7500 card. It will differ slightly with other OS and Video card combinatoins.

MS has also come out with a new srvice pack for XP you might wish to install. I did it this morning, based on Nitelife's post on our Beta forum.

I also did the same with ATI regarding the Radeon 7500.

Take care,

George

Thanks, George

will try it and see. Will have to be later though as I now have to get the place Rhea-proof. That's my 16month grand-daughter. Into absolutely everything and does not understand "No" when applied to her, so everything has to be moved or battened down.

I am very grateful, thank you so much.

my very best wishes to you

When you go from Win98 to XP, many programs require that you upgrade your ASPI Layer from the 4.6Version used in Win98 to
v4.71 for XP.

If you have problems in upgrading the version, search for a program call "Force ASPI v1.7"

dear kjzone:

I have had to revert to '98 as the problems I was having whilst XP was installed were insummountable, but thank you for taking the time and trouble to make a suggestion.

Regards
