Missing Files in search mode

It seems a lot of my files are missing all of a sudden. When searching for a song example Taylor Swift it is coming back with only one song by her. I went into the edit songs and looked her up this way and it also shows only one song. When I run the create songbook and look for Taylor Swift all the songs are listed. I tried looking up the songs by book id listed in the songbook and I get no results either. I am stumped.

Re: Missing Files in search mode

Check if you have the "String Button highlighted instead of "Words"

Differences in results shown in attachments.

With string the search has to match exact, Taylor Swift wont return Swift, Taylor.

Re: Missing Files in search mode

I can see your search settings look OK.
Puzzling
You say it happened all of a sudden, can you think of something you were doing prior to it going wrong ?
have you messed with the songs.mdb in access at all ?

If you open the build database dialog, does it appear that all the folders are listed in the bottom left window ?

One thing you could try, go to Tools/Hoster Data Folder.
Close Hoster but keep data folder open.
Look down the list for songs.mdb, rename it songs2.mdb
Under that you may have a Songs_backup.mdb.
Rename that one songs.mdb then restart Hoster see if the results are different.
If no different rename them back as they were before.

Re: Missing Files in search mode

I reimported one Taylor Swift song only and it showed up in search, I tried rebuilding the database and there were something like 19,000 duplicates which I then merged. The Taylor Swift Song that I just imported disappeared.

I tried your suggestion above and that did not work.

I think I will just start over.
What is the correct way to do this?

Re: Missing Files in search mode

Try this first:
Open the Hoster data folder close Hoster then Delete the songs.mdb and the HosterInfoIndexed.ini
Then un-install Hoster and re-install.
Now after starting Hoster go to the build database dialog And the list of folders should be empty, use the ADD folder or Add folders/Subfolders button and load the folders back containing the files, it should rebuild as they are added no need to press the rebuild button. This will insure you don't have duplicated folders in the list.

I'm wondering if something got corrupted with your original install,
You say you have Windows 10, there was a major update to windows 10 about a month ago, have you updated that recently ? As something like that could possible cause a problem.

Alternatively do you have a second install Of Hoster ?

If you have you could use the Help/Backup/restore feature on that, then restore that backup on your corrupted computer after re-installing Hoster.

In which case I would also copy all your music files from the Good working computer to the bad one as well.
