Windows 10 Problem

I just upgraded Video Hoster to the latest version 5.40 using Windows 8.1. Everything ran very well. However, after upgrading to Windows 10, I have numerous problems.

On some songs, the windows overlap-first window is not cleared when second window appears.

Sometimes the display is blotched with blocks of black and various colors. This also happens to the main window which lists the various songs.

The karaoke sweep also seems to be affected. While the sweep is OK at the beginning of the song, it slows down and falls behind as the song progresses.

I am at a loss in understanding why this happens and I certainly don't know how to correct it.

I don't see any other posts about this-so apparently this is not happening to anybody else.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Windows 10 Problem

It sounds like you may need to update graphics driver.

You don't state your computer make or model but start of by Right click on the Start button in widows 10 that should bring up a list, Click Device manager, then select display adapters, you may have more than one, right click on one and see if update driver appears or properties, if you select properties it should bring up another dialog, select driver then on the next view choose update driver.
Let it search the web for driver.

If more than one type of graphic appears repeat on the other one as well.

Should it not find an update go to your computer manufacturers web site and see if they have any updated drivers . Failing that go to your graphics manufactures site direct and search for new driver there.

See how you get on after trying the above.

Re: Windows 10 Problem

Roy,

Thanks for your suggestion. I have an HP laptop and I did go to the HP site and downloaded a new graphics driver and a couple of audio drivers. HP says my computer is now 'Up to date'

The problem with the blotched colors is cured-mostly. It stil happens every once in a while-but not very often.

This did not help the problem of each screen overwriting the previous screen. I tried several different brands of Karaoke songs and it happens virtually 100% of the time. Previous screens are not erased when the new screen comes up on top of them.

The only time I don't get this overwriting is when I play songs that I created with KHPRO. The screens change properly on every one of the songs that I created myself.

Any further suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Windows 10 Problem

Just to be clear, you say "I have an HP laptop".
It is a laptop and not a desktop computer ?

Do these problems occur if your not connected to an external monitor ?
Just running from the laptop ?

If it is only occurring when connected to an external monitor, How are you connecting to it. Direct from HDMI out, dirct from vga out, via a converter box connected to the HDMI, via a usb converter or some other way ?

One thing you can check when connected to an external monitor is which one is showing as display 1.

Try these couple of things. First open Tools/Settings then press "Reset displays". Check if this makes any difference.
If no help, while connected to the external monitor right click on desktop on a blank area and select "Display settings", you should see 2 screens showing side by side marked 1 on left & 2 on right.
under that you should see an option "Identify" press that and you should see a "1" appear on your laptop screen and "2" on your extended monitor.
Are these displaying on correct monitors ?

Re: Windows 10 Problem

I had the problem of the screens overwriting each other after my Win 10 upgrade. I redownloaded Hoster and reinstalled and it took care of that problem.

Re: Windows 10 Problem

Roy,

I have not connected this laptop to an external display. The external display window is still on my monitor. This happens on BOTH the external display window (while still on my monitor) and on the little window in the upper left corner used for monitoring the song.

Lonman,

I re-downloaded Hoster 5.40.03 and I re-installed-no help-still have the problem.

Again, this situation DOES NOT occur on songs produced by Karoke Home Producer-only on commercial songs.

Everything seemed to work well in Windows 8.1 I would hate to have to go back to that version of Windows.

Re: Windows 10 Problem

I still think it's a graphics card issue.
What model is your computer ?
I might be able to look it up.
Does it have Dual graphics card ?

If so what brand Nvidea, Ati Radion, or just Intel ?

Other than that I can only suggest you put in a support ticket.

Re: Windows 10 Problem

Roy,

You are absolutely right ! It was a graphics issue. Although I did go to the HP website yesterday and I did download new drivers, somehow I did not have the feeling that they were downloaded and/or installed correctly.

So I went back to HP again today and carefully downloaded and installed the two graphic drivers. This time I watched the process and it was a little different from yesterday-so I assumed that I didn't do it right yesterday.

The commercial songs now run properly with the sweeps being accurate and each screen now fades out like it should to make room for the next screen.

Thank you again for your help. I appreciate your staying with me on this.
