Concert Quality Wireless Speakers
Greetings,
Is there any kind of adapter that can "wireless enable" a concert style speaker making it suitable for DJ/KJ events? If not, can anyone recommend a brand that is considered a leader in the industry? Thanks in advance for your attention. Gwen |

Re: Concert Quality Wireless Speakers
A friend of mine actually bought the Alto and didn't like it. Lot of interference no matter where he moved it and lot of floor noise (underlying hiss). He returned it and was recommended by Guitar Center that he could actually utilize a wireless guitar system that would be cleaner sounding and have a better range. Look into a couple of these Sony DWZB30GB Digital Wireless Instrument System - you can get them through zzounds.com. We took his speakers & set them up in his backyard with the mixer in his basement (going through walls & concrete about 50 yds distance) and it worked beautifully, clean sound, no hiss, no line of site needed like others he tested - and cheaper than the Alto Stealth!

Re: Concert Quality Wireless Speakers
LonMan beat me to it...
The Sony DWZ-B30 Gb http://www.zzounds.com/item--SNYDWZB30GB is about half the price of the Stealth Unit From Alto... add one or more receivers for extra speaker runs...

Re: Concert Quality Wireless Speakers
I ordered the Alto Wireless system last night.
When I get them and get the opportunity to try them out, I will post my opinion...

Give us a little more feedback... Suppose I have spotty WIFI connectivity, and a distance of say 30 to 50 feet, to the HDMI Flatscreen from the KJ Station... Latency if we want to show MP4 Videos or HD Karaoke Files? Full 1080 capability? Is Line of Sight Mandatory? Thanks!

Absolutely no noise, static and anything else! My speakers were about 30' from the base unit. I couldn't ask for it to be any better!

I have not used it in a show environment but it does not need line of site or an existing network to connect, it creates a local area network of it's own and once setup remembers the settings so connects automatically the next time you use it. It seems no noticeable latency issues using it in a different room of the house and would say 50ft would not be an issue. The drawback I have found with it and why I have not used in a live show is, I can't get it to work with multiple displays, that is unless you plug it into a splitter first then run wires from there which defeats the object of it. In my setup that I tried I had my normal singers screen with the wired connection as it is close to my rig. Then connect the Actiontec to the audience monitor as I call it. What happens is, you get the computer wallpaper showing on the audience monitor but not the extended Hoster singers screen. If you open the Screen resolution dialog you see three monitors displayed ( picture attached) and if you press the identify button it correctly displays the numbers on each monitor, but only one can display the Hoster screen on top of the wallpaper. So as using it as a single screen extended it works great, Ok I suppose if you combine the audience monitor and singers monitor as the same display some distance from your computer. I don't know if the kit type that Bryan has works different. To add to this post, If you drag the singers screen across instead of double clicking it to make it go full screen, as you drag it to the monitor 2, you can keep dragging it till it shows on monitor 3 but you can only show it on one or the other.

Re: Concert Quality Wireless Speakers
Roy,
What I was thinking, was that you could broadcast to multiple monitors, if each had it's own receiver... your experience with this product paints a different picture... I just wanted to mirror or copy the extended Hoster Singers screen, to one or more "Audience" monitors... if the receiver units could be ordered separately, and they were somewhat inexpensive, then a Wireless Video system could be incorporated into a show... I was just researching, to see if this product would fit that criteria, of if one of the beta testers would chime in, and share a similar product that has worked for them? Thanks!

Re: Concert Quality Wireless Speakers
Vocopro makes a wireless rack mounted unit. I used to own one but I sold it. It worked well and was about $360.00 if I remember correctly.

Re: Concert Quality Wireless Speakers
Thanks so much for all the feedback. It is well appreciated.
Can anyone suggest a wireless solution that will eliminate the cable going from my sound system (amp, etc.) to my laptop? By doing this, my sound engineer can be removed from the performance area, relocated in front of the stage and totally wireless. Thanks in advance. Gwen |

Re: Concert Quality Wireless Speakers
The only things I know of but have no experience of using are some of the new digital mixers.
These you still connect all your mics, computer and amps into but you control them from another device like another laptop, ipad, or android device fro anywhere. So you would connect everything up on stage but your soundman could sit anywhere in the audience controlling it. Examples are: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/XR12.aspx And if you goto their downloads page you can find apps for most types to download to see the interfaces. Another similar product is: http://www.soundcraft.com/products/ui12 Again you can select a demo on that page to see the interface. There are quite a few others on the market but they can be much more expensive. But then if you can afford to pay a sound guy perhaps money is not a problem ![]()

![]() Roy,
Thanks a ton! I appreciate the information and advice, and the links that provide a better understanding of what is going on are a tremendous benefit. I hope to accomplish the final step of what is needed for a totally wireless configuration in time for a June event I have been planning for months. Best, Gwen P.S. My "sound guy" and I have been together for over 33 years. (It is one of those lovely "tied knot" relationships.) Now that our three sons are grown-up, our KJ/DJ events get us out and about, having fun meeting new people and running into folks we haven't seen in years. Karaoke Rocks!! Re: Concert Quality Wireless Speakers
I just edited the first link of my previous post as it was pointing back to MTU. It should now show the Behringer XAir mixer that is similar to the Soundcraft.
As another thought if your computer has Bluetooth you could probably get a blue tooth audio receiver and plug that into your existing mixers line in which would give you a wireless connectivity to that although I'm not sure how reliable connection blue tooth gives you. There are a number of these devices available just Google Bluetooth audio receivers.
