Need new player, burner

I just went to Micro Center (computer store). They were not able to find me a disc drive that played and recorded cdg. Does anyone know a brand and model number that will play and record cdg's?

Thanks,
Ernie

Re: Need new player, burner

MTU used to guarantee their own ones but I don't see them listed now.
I personally have a Samsung DVD writer model SE-208 that I bought from PC World. It works perfect playing direct or reading writing, might not be as fast as my old one at copying but is pixel perfect.
You won't find anything in the literature about it reading cdg but mine works perfect.

Found this one on amazon looks identical although it has a couple of extra letters in the model name, might be slight differences in USA to UK models.

For the price you can afford to take a chance

Roy,
On Amazon it said slim. Isn't the slim for laptops? I need to replace my desktop unit. What do you have yours in?

Thanks,
Ernie

Re: Need new player, burner

Most of the newer DVD drives can burn & rip cdg's with MTU Hoster or Microstudio (and other manus I've heard). I don't think you will find ANY drive on the market today that will specifically say cdg capable anymore like the old Plextors used to back in the day.
I have 2 internal LGs, 1 internal LiteOn & an external USB HP dvd drive that all work fine.

Re: Need new player, burner

I bought the one that Roy suggested. I still needed an internal drive, so I went to the store and bought an ASUS drive. There was no information about cdg, but it does play cdg, so you're right.

Thanks,
Ernie
