when running 2 hoster shows at once some files show corrupted

I have always ran 2 shows simultaneously, one for me and one for them and never had an issue ever until version 510.02. I used 5.08 I believe, with no problem for over a year. before that 4.32 and never had a problem. the reason I upgraded was for tempo and karaoke song purchase. anyway it only happens in my show which I have carried for many years and versions and computers. I know the files are good because I can search and play them on the new show. It is never the same songs, I can close my show and reopen it and the song will work. sometimes it will condemn a few songs in a row and then start playing the first good one it finds. now I did before the last show rebuild the database, didn't change a thing. my computer is up to date and has no operating system file issues. let me know what you think.
using version 520.02 now

When you say two shows do you mean you open Hoster twice on the same computer?

Re: when running 2 hoster shows at once some files show corrupted

that would be correct Walt. have been doing this since version 3.1 in 2005. my show has about 400 songs listed so you can see why I don't want a drop down menu. I know that there were versions that would not let you run 2, if you brought up the other show to the foreground on the computer the lyrics would disappear from the TV's. only used that version at 1 show, then it was probably back to version 4.32...not sure.

I have to ask this. Have you done all the changes that MTU recommends for your version of Windows? These changes are important to have a smooth running operation.

Re: when running 2 hoster shows at once some files show corrupted

going over everything again I reinstalled the codec pack just in case it is a newer version

Allow active content to run in files on My Computer and Allow active content from CDs to run on My Computer...ok never have but just for you I'll open this security flaw.

Disable Windows Search Indexer...again never have, use it a lot to find music the first 20 minutes while WMP is trying to update / locate all my music. but for the next show I'll try it.... it was set to manual by the way

everything else is set

thank you Walt

Re: when running 2 hoster shows at once some files show corrupted

I just tried to run 2 versions of Hoster on my laptop and it worked without any issues. I don't normally do this and I am running a Beta version right now but it should workd with 520.02. I even tried playing a song from each version at the same time just for giggles and both played. I am at a loss as to why it won't work for you. Is this a new computer or I guess I should ask, have you ever been able to run 2 instances of Hoster on this particular computer before or did this problem just start with this computer? Your computer seems to have more than enough power and resources by the specs you listed. The only thing I see is the video card make that some users had reported problems when updating the driver. When they went back to the previous driver their problems went away. I am obviously grasping at straws right now. When you say the songs are corrupted do you mean that they show "error" under the status title instead of "ready"?

Re: when running 2 hoster shows at once some files show corrupted

just updated video driver to 335.23 from 332.xx, see what that will do...

haven't had many issues with video drivers in the past with the exception of a beta version around 320.xx I believe, lyrics just piled on the display. rolled back the driver while playing music and the show went on fine without having to restart computer. this was over a year ago, not anything current.

anyway to answer your questions

this computer is about 3 years old and this one and an Asus F3JP used for about 5 years and an emachines M6807 for about 3 years, its the one I started with, they all have always run 2 instances of Hoster just great. never had any problems until version 5xx when it stated that you couldn't run 2 instances of Hoster and they were correct. when you would bring the show not in use to the foreground on your desktop the lyrics for the show playing would disappear. this was fixed in version 5.08 where you can run 2 copies of Hoster. as a side note I have even run 3 before with no problems.

the songs say ready until I hit play and then it displays error and up pops the dialog box telling me the file is corrupt and starts to play the next song or errors out several and plays the next song on the list. different from show to show, not the same songs every show. in other words totally random.

I have a show tonight but I will do a trial run now, see what happens
thanks again

Re: when running 2 hoster shows at once some files show corrupted

well here is something interesting, now when I tried to play 2 songs at once, like you did, the second song came up "write error on WMA" (this is different)It will do that with either show when the other is playing. then stopping the show playing I can go back to the show and the error song will play fine.

I usually wait until one show song is completely done before clicking on the other show to start, but I can recall hitting the other show early and not having an issue at all, would start up just fine.

I'm out of ideas. You might want to put in a support ticket and see if MTU can figure it out. Sorry,

When I tried this running two Hoster versions, I got the same "Write Error On WMA" for five songs, one after the other automatically, and then the sixth song started playing with the other song playing.

I have never done this at a show. I was just trying to see what would happen with my system!

I agree, it's Ticket Time...

Re: when running 2 hoster shows at once some files show corrupted

I tried it on my backup computer which is a Asus G73jh about the same but ATI 5870 video card, same issues, changed to Hoster 4.32 works like a charm, can play 2 songs at once. tried 5.08 and has same issues.

seems somehow 5.20.2 doesn't operate 2 shows independently of each other like 4.32 does.

support ticket sounds like the next step...can I reference this thread on the ticket? I'm just lazy and don't want to type a lot
