Hoster 5.10 Stopped reading CDs

Hey Guys

Can anyone help me.

I am running Hoster 5.10 on a windows 8 operating system with 16GB RAM.

The system was running perfectly and then suddenly stopped being able to import cdg discs or play singers' disks at shows.

When importing there are no error messages it just does not show track listings.

When importing singers' disks during a show it the following error message is displayed Hoster (header) "The track number you entered was not found on the disc. Enter a valid track number and try again".

It does not accept any track number as valid.

Both the internal cd drive and the external cd drive show as good on the drive test in CD/DVD Drives Defaults. The internal drive is selected as the default drive.

This has happened once before which I repaired by re-installing Hoster. This time un-installing and re-installing has not worked.

I have also double checked the requirements list before re-installing to make sure the system setups were correct.

I am at a loss as to what to try next.

I would be very thankful if anyone knows what to do!

Regards
Albert

Re: Hoster 5.10 Stopped reading CDs

I take it that it still plays an ordinary cd from the internal drive using media player ?

Try this: from the Tools menu/CD/DVD drives dialog, even though it shows the internal drive as good and shows the correct drive in the bottom window with the dropdown arrow, still click the dropdown arrow and re-select it from that dropdown even though it might be the only one showing, then press Save and close the dialog & Hoster. Re-Start Hoster then see if it works after that.
Doing the above should reset the Hoster registry setting for that drive.

Let us know if this fixes it.

I tried switching the default to the external drive and then back again but neither drive worked. Both drives will import cdgs with alternate software but this just rips the entire disk and disrupts playback in Hoster.

Re: Hoster 5.10 Stopped reading CDs

Did you press the save button after changing or selecting the drive?
The only other things I can suggest is:
1) Re-install but tick the box where it asks if you want to remove all previous settings, the main drawback with this is you will lose all your instabutton settings.

Or 2) try restoring your computer to the time before this problem occurred.

3) Else put a support ticket in : http://www.mtu.com/support/customer-...htm#HelpTicket

Re: Hoster 5.10 Stopped reading CDs

Roy

As a last chance I tried manually setting the drive as Bad and then manually setting it back to Good. This immediately allowing me to load singer's disc and import cdg. A "quick fix" in the end. It was something I saw in an old Dale Douglass posting for Hoster 3.???. Useful to remember if it fails during a show.

Thanks for your helpful comments

Albert

Thanks for letting us know how you finally resolved the problem and a good tip from Dale that I must try to remember in the future.
