Re: how to get the dual screen to work on windows 8
okay now there is a problem, when I plug the converter into the laptop the screen goes black and so does the TV, or the TV is just static, I tried the converter on my old laptop and it worked fine. the new computer has a 4000 HD graphics chip is this causing the problem

Re: how to get the dual screen to work on windows 8
It sounds like you have projector only selected.
With your converter connected hold down the windows key again and tap the "P" key to see if you get the the the 4 boxes back, and select disconnect projector. Then repeat the windows key+p but make sure to only select the "extend" option. I'm not familiar with Windows 8 so don't know if you can bring up the screen settings window by right clicking on the desktop and select " screen resolution" from the fly out window as you would with Windows 7. Then check it is showing screens 1 & 2 there then select the individual screens and check what screen resolution is showing for each and that the dropdown box for Multiple displays shows as "Extend these Displays" if it shows anything other than that select it from the dropdown list and press apply and OK. See how you get on with that.

![]() okay with the Toshiba windows 8, no matter what I do I can't the computer to recognize or detect another screen. I will so me 2 screens and I got it to project to the second screen, but everything is in reverse, what should be on the laptop is on the tv and what is on the TV is on the laptop. Also when I click on the second screen on the laptop (identify) is say 1 on both little screens number 1 and 2 both identify as number 1. I even tried the settings to make identify the second, it keeps saying no second screen or monitor detected. Do you still use the pc to Tv converter with this windows 8. I am at my wits end, I have been trying to get this work for 4 days. It did work once but as soon as I turned everything off. thinking horray when I turned it back on later same crap and I haven't been able to get it to work sense.

Re: how to get the dual screen to work on windows 8
I would contact Toshiba on this, as the steps Roy has given you above are the Normal way to turn it on under Windows 8. So if that is not working, you have some other issue that you would need to take up with the Manufacturer of the computer.

Re: how to get the dual screen to work on windows 8
Yes you can still use a converter, if you have an HDMI lead you could try connecting it directly to a TV via that to see if it makes any difference.
If that works OK it may be something to do with your converter or the link to it. Out of interest what type of converter are you using one from the HDMI or VGA port or one of those USB types ?
