Back for emergencies

I had a significant problem last week with hoster. It crashed and would not re-open. Question, what are ways I could work around this if it ever happened again.

Can hoster program be installed and launched from an external harddrive as a backup in case the program will not launch from my computer?

Is there a web based version?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I always have another slightly less expensive laptop as a backup, with Hoster and all the files needed for karaoke and dance music. You should always have a backup of some sort anyway as hardware can also crap out on you.

Which hoster version were you using and what operating system did you have.

Re: Back for emergencies

As Bryant stated the best back up is a spare computer. You can not launch a copy from a spare drive or the Internet but there are some work around that may help if the spare computer is out of bounds.
Make a backup copy of your Hoster folder which you will find in C/MTU folder. This contains the songs.mdb, singers.mdb play lists and list of folders in the build database for running your show, nearly everything can be recovered from this folder.
Most probably cause for your computer failing to start is because the songs.mdb became corrupted.
Now should this ever happen again you can delete the songs.mdb and replace it with your backup copy and you should be up and running in no time. Of course you could just delete your songs.mdb and restart Hoster but this could take some time to rebuild if you where at a show.
Now if the songs.mdb failed to get you started rename the Hoster folder temporary to something and replace it with your backup copy of the whole Hoster folder.
But be aware the backup folder will not contain info entered after making the backup.
