Hoster 3.321 parameter is incorrect
I realize this is a long shot but yes I am still running a version 3.321 on a Dell computer running Microsoft XP ver.2002 with svc pack 3 with a cpu 2.53 GHz and 512 RAM. I was trying to merge my kma file from the computer with my external. I new that the files on my external included those on my computer so I deleted the song file on my C drive and then tried to rebuild the database only to get the error parameter is incorrect. It stops building the DB at track 1102 of over 10750 files. I realize the chance of getting support for this version is probably non existent and yes I do have a newer version but use this version still at home. Thanks in advance.

Re: Hoster 3.321 parameter is incorrect
What is your newer version?
The parameter is incorrect message is because early versions are not compatible with the later versions, there are extra fields of data in the headers of kma files in the later versions and early versions can't read this data. Depending which version your later one is it could just be the genre or language fields as extra genre and I think languages were added, 3.321 doesn't understand them and gives the error. So if you know you have added these extra genre a possible solution is to open the edit dialog in your later version and find the songs you added the new genre or language to and edit them again to one that 3.321 can read. Might be an idea to make them something that might stand out so if you could remember a genre in 3.321 that it uses but you know you would not have used that yourself. Or perhaps set the language to Chinese then you could quickly edit them back by searching the language field. There are other things that changed so the above still might not work. Unless you have a backup of the files you deleted the only other thing I can think of is to convert the kma files to mp3+g with songverter then re import them into 3.321 or upgrade that version as well.

Re: Hoster 3.321 parameter is incorrect
Roy Thanks for the reply. The lastest version of Hoster. I was trying to update my home system from the new hoster. So if I understand you I should reverse this process and update from the old to the new. Can I do that with a merge data base function in hoster? say songs on the c drive with new hoster and songs I have added from the older version on my external?

From what It sounds like, you are suggesting that all your old files are on an external drive and that if you add any new files to that drive through your 3.xxx version you can just use the merge button in 5.07 and it will only add the new songs. I'd be very reluctant to advise to try this as that is not what the merge function is designed for, it is meant for renumbering duplicate book ids found in your rebuild list, by doing what you suggest may cause lots of duplicated numbers which may renumber lots of your existing book ids that could then affect your printed books if you print books with book IDs. What I would try is import any new songs into your existing 3.xxx version as normal but make sure that the book root id you use is not already in use in the 5.07 version You can check the last # used in 5.07 in various ways one is from the import cds tracks dialog and press the next button next to book root id and it should return the next available #. Use this number to import into your 3.xxx version. When you have finished importing the new tracks just copy those new ones using windows explorer and paste them into your kma folder. Then in 5.07 goto Import Songs/Build Database, highlight the folder you just pasted the extra files in and press Rescan Folder. this will then just add those new files to the data base. I have not tried this using files from 3.xxx version so if it doesn't work come back. If you prefer you could just create a new folder to paste your new files in and just add that new folder to the list of folders in the build database dialog, you should then see it build those new songs into the database.
