Sweep Sync is off ONLY after I write to a CD

I am currently using KHPro 3.10 and have an ATI 7000 video card with DirectX 8.1 and a Soundblaster sound card. Screen colors are set to 16.

By adjusting the sweep advance to .40, I am able to get almost perfect synchronization when I tap in a song. The song plays back perfectly in KHPro and when I write the CDG file, it plays back perfectly in Microstudio. However, when I write the CDG file to a CD, the video sweep gets PROGRESSIVELY slower as the song plays out.

I have experimented with various sweep speeds before I write the CDG file and always get the same result when I play the song back from the recorded CD. By using a very fast sweep (3.2), the CD has the sweep a line or two AHEAD of the sound at the beginning of the song-but the time the end of the song is reached, the sweep is a line or two BEHIND the sound.

Help from anybody would be appreciated.

Alan,
Is this in the Microstudio Player or a regular Hardware CD+G player?

Bryan,

This problem occurs in the Microstudio playback feature. I have not tried it yet on a regular Karaoke machine. Because I have been experimenting quite a bit with different sweep speeds, I have been using an RW CD, rather than a CDR. Otherwise, I would be wasting a new CDR EVERY time the experiment doesn't work. To my knowledge, the RWs don't play in Karaoke machines. Does Microstudio treat these two types of recordable CDs differently ?

Alan,
I am not sure what the CDRW would do, but I don't think it should make a difference. What type of Video card do you have? you can find this out by running the following:

1. Click the Start Menu and the Run command
2. Type in DXDIAG and click the OK Button
3. This will open the DirectX DIAGnostic program that will gather and show your computer data
4. Once the information is collected, click the Save all Information button at the bottom
5. A Save as dialog box will appear
6. Change the Save in directory to C:\My Documents
7. Change the filename to dxdiag from Yourfirst Lastname (example: dxdiag from Joe Smith)
8. You can download a free upgrade from Microsoft at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/r...eleaseID=27741

Bryan,

As mentioned in my original comments, I have an ATI 7000 Radeon card-the one recommended by you & Dave when I inquired about a sync problem last January.

I still don't know how to solve the problem. Any help to bring the video into syc with the audio would be appreciated.

Alan,
Please go and download the latest drivers from ATI for this ATI Radeon 7000 video card. You can download these from: http://mirror.ati.com/support/driver.html

Select your Operating system and then select your Video card.

Also have you read and tried any of these items that are listed in this post: http://www.mtu.com/vbulletin/showthr...p?threadid=876

ALAN,

ATI HAS A NEW SPECIFIC DRIVER FOR DIRECT X, VER 8.1. FOR THE
7000 CARD.......GO TO THEIR WEBSITE AND GET IT.

THIS SHOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM.

I HAVE ABSOLUTELY "NO PROBLEMS" WITH THE ATI CARD MAKING
CD+G THAT SWEEP CORRECTLY.

This ATI card was installed in August-so I thought I had the latest drivers-but I went to the ATI site anyway and I found a brand new driver dated Sept 12.

I downloaded the driver and tried it out. It was absolutely NO HELP WHATSOEVER !

Again, the file plays OK in KHPro and it also plays OK from Microstudio as long as I am reading from the hard drive.

----but when I write to the CDR, the sweep CANNOT KEEP UP WITH THE AUDIO!

I have tried ALL the suggestions and still find that the sweep on my recorded CD gets PROGRESSIVELY slower as the song progresses-and by the time a three minute song is finished, the sweep is a FULL line behind the audio. I thought that the problem might be with my recorder-but I have NO problem copying a commercially prepared Karaoke song. This problem exists ONLY with the songs I prepare in KHPro and write with Microstudio.

Alan:

1. What Make and Model CD-RW writer are you using?
2. Do you have the current "Firmware" installed for this unit.
3. Do you have CDRWin? (Goldenhawk)
4. Try burning using CDRWin.

Kzone,

I replied to your E Mail-but here for posting are the answers again.

Before my last post, I did try burning with CDRWIN and it was no help. I changed the extenion on the file produced by KHPro from CDG to BIN which is the type of extension that CDRWIN likes. I have an HP 8110 recorder-which although it might be a little old stills burns perfectly when I copy a commercial Karaoke file and I also get perfect copies and synchronization when I download an MP3+CDG file and covert it to a BIN file for recording.

The only time I seem to have this problem is when I use a file created by KHPro.

I think KHPro is a great program; it would be even better if it worked on my computer ! Thanks for trying to help me.

KJZone,

I'm using Windows 98SE. My HP8110 is an IDE device-not USB and my CDRWIN version is 3.8C.

Bryan,

First, I want to publicly thank KJZONE for all the help and support he has given me in attempting to solve this problem. He has been 'spoon feeding' me by E mail for the last week.

I have done EVERYTHING suggested by both you and him-all to no avail and then after playing the CD file with other programs, I find out that the problem does not appear to be with KHPro at all !

Apparently, the problem is with Microstudio. When I create and play the file within KHPro, the sync is just fine and when I play the file from the hard drive within Microstudio, it is also OK. The problem exists only when I try to play the CD from within Microstudio. When I play the CD with CAVS for example, the synchronization is as good as it is when I play the file from the hard drive. And when I put the CD in the karaoke machine, there are no problems.

I would prefer to play the CD from Microstudio for testing -but at least I now know that my 'creations' will play OK in the karaoke machine -once they are burned to a CD.

What version of Microstudio are you running? This sounds like it may be something related to our program with this HP 8100 CD-R drive. If this is the case it will be really hard to diagnose this, without an actual drive.

You might want to try going to HP's website and updating their latest Version of Firmware, to see if this will help.
