importing a previous version singers list into new version
I had a big time problem with my "old' computer. When I upgraded to the 5.05 version, Can I (if i can get access to the old CPU Hoster files) can I import singers song lists into the new version? It is a big hassle to rebuild their song lists.
I bought an upgrade from previous version, but I have no access. If I use a external enclosure, can I load the song lists into the new version? HELP ME PLEASE!! |

Re: importing a previous version singers list into new version
You should be able to copy and paste an earlier version of singers.mbd in to the C:/MTU/Hoster folder. It will only work correct though if all the files follow the same pathe as they did on the previouse computer, example if your old external drive was E then the external must be E on the new and the folders must be named identicle. If you do not have an external drive fitted on either the old or new and all your folders follow the same name and pathe you should not have a problem.

Re: importing a previous version singers list into new version
I want to take out the internal hard drive from my dead computer and put it in a enclosure to make it an external drive to access the information. That drive is fine. The bios/clock cmos battery is dead and very difficult to get to.
If I make it an external drive can I get to the singers song lists and transfer it to the new machine? |

Re: importing a previous version singers list into new version
Yes, If you can read the files from that drive just copy and paste to your new computer.

You can try it but I am not convinced it will work.

Re: importing a previous version singers list into new version
I just got my old computer running. For how long I don't know. I was able to export the singers list to Word. I'm not sure how to get it into the new machine. I have a gizmo called "Tornado" which is a file transfer tool. But, I'm not sure how to do it. Any ideas? |

Re: importing a previous version singers list into new version
I was able to find the file "singers.mdb" I e-mailed it to myself and now have it in the new machine. Just not sure how to get it into Hoster.

Re: importing a previous version singers list into new version
The exported singers list is of no help. It's the singers.mdb you want, If this is the file you emailed yourself then you must have sent it as an attachment, so use right click on the file and select copy then open your C:/MTU/ folder and Right click on the Hoster folder and select paste.
You may see a window appear saying already exists do you still want to copy it select the option to copy. Or if you have a memory stick handy probably better to copy the singers.mdb to that first then plug the memory stick in the new computer and copy & paste the singers .mdb that way rather than use the emailed one. As Dale stated no guarantee it will work as it depends on whether all the files follow the exact same path as previously.

Re: importing a previous version singers list into new version
If nothing else, I can clean up the list of no shows in a while and keep the regulars and semi-regulars. I'll just keep it up in the background for people to reference.

Re: importing a previous version singers list into new version
When you upgraded to 5.05, yoiur Singers.mdb database file was first backed up in the same folder as your Singers.mdb. OR... you now have your "prior Singers.mdb" also on the new computer in the same folder. Now, only one file can have the name "Singers.mdb", so copying your "prior" file overwrote your Singers.mdb that was converter when you ran 5.05.
You will now need to run 5.05 again, and it will report it is making a backup (overwriting the prior backup) and then a message that it is being converted. DO NOT interrupt it for any reason. It will destroy your Singers.mdb file, and possibly the backup file when you try to run 5.05 again. ![]() |
