Using Two Computers To Import

If i purchase a second version of Hoster, is it ok to use just that computer to import my songs to my external, and a different computer to use those songs in my show? I don't want to have duplicate song ID's. I know that was a problem awhile back. Is it ok now? George

Yes you can do as you ask.
There has been a couple of people having problems with duplicate book Id's with 5.02 but that has been corrected with the next version that will be released very soon, so I should wait till that is available before importing them from one to the other.

Do you know that with the full version of Hoster ( Not Lite) you can have it installed on 2 computers ?

Re: Using Two Computers To Import

I use two computers as well. My home computer to import all the songs, then I flash drive them to my show computer. As long as you keep the bookid to the 'next' number when importing, you shouldn't have a problem with dup id's between the 2 computers.

ok thats greek to me....lol i think mtu should give everyone a test, you don't pass, can't use their software, i'd be outta luck wouldn't i ....no seriously, just a little different here lon, i want to use my external. Take it into my studio, hookit up to that computer and do my downloading there. then put it in my laptop case, haul it to my show, run rebuild, and use it. Just trying not to use my laptop for anything but my show.

P.S. Was there a full moon over upper northern michigan (canadian border area) last night? man did i ever get the strange ones at my show last night. Just a strange strange bunch of folks, not my regular crowd....oh well..back to the issue at hand.

Re: Using Two Computers To Import

Version 5.02 just release with 22 changes... BIG upgrade!

We are still lacking the feature to "Merge Duplicate BookIDs" that was available in past versions. It got too complex to get in 5.03, but is scheduled to be added in 5.04.

To avoid needing to renumber duplicate BookIDs, do as Lonman suggests to always press the "Next" (BookID Root) to get an unassigned BookID Root number. But, be careful to NOT be importing on BOTH computers. That could cause duplicate BookIDs.

Re: Using Two Computers To Import

I also only import on 1 computer (desktop) and play Hoster on my notebook. I never import on the notebook. Keeps things simple.
