Converting back to old KMA files
I have an issue which is probably a little different. I upgraded to 4.11 when it 1st came out and love it. I keep all of my songs on the C drive of my laptop. Because my backup home computers are extremely old I have left it with the 3.32 version which I use purely as a backup and to try songs out. I have two hard drives which I use on the backup home computer and I lost both drives within a few weeks. I bought another hard drive and thought I would just copy the KMA files from the laptop over to the new hard drive but when I tried to rebuild the database it became clear that 4.11 had converted the KMA's to something a little different which could not be used on the 3.32 version.
My question is... is it possible to convert the KMA's back to the version that will work on 3.32? The only other option is to upgrade the backup to 4.11 as well but my backup computer has no where the min requirements that you suggest you need to run it - will the newer version just be a lot slower on an old computer or will it not work at all. It is all good if it is just slower (it is only for practise). |

If you have the full version of 4.11 (not light version) you should be able to install it on a second computer providing you have not already used it on a second computer. If your backup computers operating ststems are prior to XP then I don't think it would work anyway.

Re: Converting back to old KMA files
The change made in the KMA files was to add more information in the header such as the Remove Silence information.
If 4.11 doesn't work well on the older computer you could try doing a conversion for all the KMA files with Songverter to take them to either MP3+G or BIN then re-importing them to the older version.

I'd suggest you upgrade 3.32? to 4.11 and use the new KMA format files. ![]() |
