Long BookIDs
I have recently consolidated the various folders on my laptop that had a mix of KMA and KMH files into one folder. I then erased the songs database so that on my next restart, the new song database would be created. Everything worked fine, but somewhere along the line, I have ended up with BookIDs that are 9 digits long. This makes it mistake-prone when someone looks at the songbook and has to write down a 9 digit number (7 digit root and 2 digit track).
Is there a way to renumber the BookIDs? I don't mind having to print new songbooks. Thanks |

Re: Long BookIDs
BookIDs are not changed by rebuilding the database. Whatever BookID was assigned when files were imported is what they are. The only way to change this is to re-import them.
Actually those BookIDs are not 7 root and 2 track but are 5 root (99,999) and 4 track (9,999). This was changed to accommodate SCDG disks which have over 1,000 tracks. This should not be a problem unless you have over 10,000 CDs. Most people usually have CDs in the hundreds. So would only see at most a 7 digit BookID and that would be for those that have track numbers in excess of 999.

Re: Long BookIDs
Thanks Dale. But when I print out a songbook, some of the ids are very long. Example: 6231111-23, another 89672-02, 7181111-41 and so on. That is the problem I am referring to. I recently added songs that were mp3/zip files and it appears most of them were assigned the long number. I don't mind re-importing, but I suspect this will happen again. Is there a way to go directly into the database and renumber, perhaps with MS Access?

Re: Long BookIDs
Before you consolidated these files, did you see what Book IDs were assigned to these files then ?
It looks like it has added 1111 on to the end of the book id. If you delete these KMH files it would be best to do it from the edit multiples tab then re import them but check when importing that the # shown in the next box of the Book Id Root is of a manageable size first, (no more than 4 digits). Just import a few first and check it in the edit screen or songbook before completing the rest. After deleting all these Kmh headers, check which is the last number showing from the drop down window in the main screens book id, then your next book ID when importing should be one up from this of course ignoring the last 2 digits.
