Question Hoster 4.11 Slow Loading

Windows 7 - 4gig ram - 500gig HD - dual core 2.10 Pentium

I just started having this problem last night in the Hoster 4.11 everything was good before that.

After I click on the icon on the deaktop for Hoster it takes almost 4 minutes to come up.

What I was doing before that was, I was listing songs (kma files) into my Hoster program using the "search" button in Hoster when this all started. I had listed up to 23 hours when this started happening.

Since, I have uninstalled and re-installed Hoster, cleaned registry, defraged, did a scan disk and did a virus scan.

On My XP and Vista, they work just fine. I just can't put my finger on what all of a sudden just happened.
Anybody got a clue?
Thanks

Are you saying you added 23 hours worth of songs to a playlist?
No wonder Hoster takes so long to open. If you have a playlist with songs listed on it in Hoster when you close Hoster, then that same playlist will be there when you open Hoster the next time.
When you open Hoster part of its setup that it goes through before opening on the screen is to check all the songs listed in the playlist to make sure they are accessable. If one isn't then it is marked as unavailable.
Let's see 23 hours worth at 12 - 20 songs per hour would be 276 - 460 files to verify. Yes I could see 4 minutes to open the program.

Now instead of leaving that monster size playlist open in Hoster try saving that playlist with a name then start a "New" playlist and then close Hoster. Then when you open Hoster again it won't have any songs to check until you "Open" that long list.

Re: Hoster 4.11 Slow Loading

On my vista machine and XP it opens right away with a larger amount of songs, but the song list is "zip" files I selected on the same hard drive. And too, the one I'm having a problem with, the list is kma files on an external drive.
Would the "lag" on the new machine be because of the external HD location for the files? Other than being large.

External drive access is slower than internal, so yes this could be a factor in it.
Do the other computers have 23 hours worth also?

Dale, all due respects to your knowledge of Hoster, but i have always had 25-30 hour play list and before 4.11, it would open almost immediately. With 4.11, it does take about 3-4 minutes.
Now before you start talking about monster playlist and starting three to four small play list, some of us do a one man show and prefer a large playlist and find it easier to work with.
This only started with 4.11. Let me add, my play list are on a internal drive.

Re: Hoster 4.11 Slow Loading

The Vista machine is 4.11 & has over 28 hours but are the zipped files not kma and that just opens right up within 5-7 seconds. The Xp a bit less hours at about 23 but open easily but it is 3.12. I'm thinking a conflict somewhere. Because it started all of a sudden.

Re: Hoster 4.11 Slow Loading

Not a Windows expert but yes that may be possibility. Try what I suggested and see if it opens faster first, then start looking for something else running in the background.
How are you loading the zip files on the other two? Are they imported from the Import Utility or added from the main page?

Re: Hoster 4.11 Slow Loading

I started a new file and renamed it. It opens quicker. I went back to open the old bigger one and I am still waiting for it to open. Nothing else running as I checked the Task Manager.
What I am going to do today is to load all the files I need, the almost 30 hours in zipped files into a new named Hoster from the main hard drive. They have all my key changes and the manufactures that I like. I'm going to also delete any other files I created. If I have time I will also do another file with kma and I'll see what happens.
I have a cruise ship job today and I am busy for the 1st hour than a break for 3 hours so I'll work on it then and let you know later.
When I load the zipped files I go to the Karaoke button at the top on the Main Page and fiind the file. Otherwise I use the Search button and get a kma file.
I'll keep all my imported kma files on the external HD just in case I need to look something up quick. But the zipped the files are for just personal use.
I'll keep you updated later. Thanks
