Loading Hoster Twice???

The other day, I accidently opended hoster twice. It actually worked out pretty good. I had two different playlist and could alternate between them. Has anyone ever done this and is there any problems with this idea?

I have had as many as 5 open with different playlist, but do a one man show, not karaoke. Works great for me for the last 6 years with no problem.
I read where people use different programs to play break music and always wondered why they just didn't open another Hoster screen with their break music on it. A click of the mouse and you are there.

At one point Admin was thinking about limiting Hoster to one copy running at a time, but we (beta testers) talked him out of it. The biggest problem you would have is if you overlap music from the two as they are both using the same sound card.

Most Of the time I Had 6 playlist open, one for general public, 3 for the show hosts ( Individual playlist ) and my own playlist and one for regulars. I could play it non-stop without problem on 3.4 (3.321) But Have not tried on 4.09 because my show computer is old, but still working flawless. My back-up computer(laptop) has 4.09 but have not subjected to this kind of Shows. Have done a mocked show with 3 playlist open so far it work okey, but like I said have not tried for the whole evening b'cause show computer still working flawless without any problem. (so, why change it if ain't broke. )

In fooling around with hoster, I have had Windows Media playing at the same time as hoster (one sound card). I even played a song from hoster and tried to sync the karaoke version with the original that was playing with Windows Media. It worked pretty good. Just playing around trying to find the limitations. As Clint Eastwood said, " A man has to know his limits!"

Thanks Guys,

Walt

How do you keep the Lyrics on the Singers' Display while viewing another instance of Hoster? As soon as I click on the other Hoster just to view it, then Graphics disappear on the singer What am I missing?

I could never do it, that's why I think most of us avoid doing(running two instances)that.

and, that's why I insisted on keeping 3.4 I can view & makes changes to different playlists in 3.4 while running a Show (using a separate playlist) with 4.xx As long as you don't use the same playlist in both, you can also play a song in 3.4 while editing the "current Show" playlist.

Turn it off in the intermission, drag it back to the computer screen and shrink it down to where it isn't in the way. This is in the second copy which should not effect the first one.

What an IDEA Gee, I wonder why this was never mentioned before in all the discussions when I was arguing against getting rid of 3.4 just so I could access my "personal" playlists of hundreds of songs that I've been using for 2 years, while still running a Show.
THANKS! (I just haven't had the time to look up & put all these songs into the singer's database yet.)

Version 3.4 was never intended to be a permanent addition, but was included because of all the Vista problems when 4.0 was released. Now that it is stable 3.4 has been removed from the installer. Sounds to me like you need to spend some time moving all that information from playlists to the Singer's Database.

Little by little, I'm getting there! I only recently started working again, after my husband being in & out of the hospital so much this year. And now so much time is needed to puchase & import new music & add new song lists to my books, besides a little testing.

This is the reason why I still used 3.4 (3.321). I could open as many playlist I want to up to 6 with out affecting the singer display. Haven't really tried on 4.09 because on too much resources needed plus some gltches on audio. But my back-up computer was capable of doing this with 3 playlists open, but just haven't tried it on actual show. Like I said before show computer stll working perfectly fine.

As suggested by Dale, I opened a 2nd Hoster using 4.1B28 - and resized the singers display to make it very small and sit on the desktop out of the way. So, it does work! However, just practicing caused it to crash several times, which may or may not happen through a whole Show using 3.4. I agree with you, that it's probably because 3.4 doesn't need as many resourses to run along side of 4.xx as having another 4.xx open.

Hang on there, I could do 4.09 to behave like 3.4 with as many as 6 playlist open but you have to turned off everything on 4.09 just plain playing of playlist songs and musics and really could not do song searching with out audio glitches, but with powerful deskstop computer running faster cpu and big memory and good video card with at least 1gb video ram will do the trick but maybe 4.10 will not need this. For now just keep practicing on runnning 3.4 with as many 6 playlist opened for almost no-interruption show.

I keep as many as 5-6 playlist open as i do a one man show. One list may be a counry show, another 50 R&R, 70-80s, an Elvis set, etc.. The list could be longer, depending on where i play.
An average KJ show i could see where the KJ would use only Hoster for Break music, karaoke list, personal song list, and maybe a couple of specialty things, easily reaching up to 5-6. IMHO I personally have never seen the need to use any other program besides Hoster to run a show when you run it this way, but, to each his own.
Seems a lot of Hoster users were not even aware you could run multiple Hoster screens at once. I have always wondered why some use Winamp, etc. after seeing a lot of problems reported using Hoster in conjunction with other players simply for break music.

Same as Muzicman stated, it is really depend on your preferences. hoster has it if you just explore more of it's capabilities. Now I used my back-up computer to show slideshow on my background screen, someime videos using instabuttons or ad video of other people willing to provide video of their company Ad. (Back-up or 2nd computer with 4.09, I have Quad and Duo license). background screen show what's going on on the stage and dance floor using video camera.

i had never had a problem running a diff. program in conjunction with hoster, i used either pcdj , itunes or my herculez mk2, when i'm doing a private show, most of the time i'm playing dj music in which i use my pcdj so as not to have gaps in between songs etc. for continous play, Hoster on the other hand is what i used in what i call in between breaks, when i do a private gigs i usually asked if they want just plain dance music or karaoke , i only do karaoke when i'm asked to..but like i said never had problems running other programs ( of course not at the same time )..just a question..can you open up a playlist window without having a video glitch while the other playlist is open/running ?

I did not have a video or audio glitches when I used my deskstop computer but with laptop yes because of shared memories.
