Reinstalled 4.06, still shows up as 4.07

Don't know what I'm doing wrong??? I had 4.07 on Hoster and reinstalled 4.06 (twice) but it still comes up as 4.07. Do I have to totally delete 4.07 and then install 4.06?

Thanks,
Ernie

Hey Ernie,
Remove 4.07 then install 4.06. You can remove 4.07 through Control Panel > Remove Programs.

This should get you going.

Jim

A long as you reinstall on the same computer there should be no problem. Its a good idea anyhow to uninstall while online - insurance.

Roy,
If you do all installs of Hoster 4 online (which we have to) and all unistalls online (which I always do), it will keep your "count" straight. Anytime we unistall Hoster 4.X online, it lets MTU know that we have removed one copy of Hoster 4 that is now freed up to be installed on the same computer or on a different computer.

This does not apply to Hoster 3.X.

That is what I am saying Jim, but you said in thread #2 to uninstall through the control panel > remove programs. Which would not be on line or does it alto connect to the Internet when you use this method ?

Either by the Setup program or throught the Control panel does the same function. The Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs calls that setup program to remove Hoster. SO either way alerts MTU that program has been removed.

Thanks for that answer Dale, just so I know in the future.

Jim. I stand corrected.

Roy,
In post #2 I should have mentioned to "be sure you are online". I guess I assume too much. Thanks for all of the help you provide for the MTU/Hoster community, you've obviously been doing this awhile.

Thanks Again!

Jim

P.S. Hoster 4.08 is a strong release. It ran a 7 hour playlist with every type of file I have in the playlist without a hitch.

I would prefer you not give this advice. Run the Hoster Install program and select REMOVE. Please recommend that in the future.

I'm not 100% sure of that. In fact, the more I think on it the more I'm convinced that it is our executable "C" program that the Hoster Installer runs that communicates with the web site. I don't believe Add/Remove Programs will be able to run that.

I'll ask Support or Engineering answer this morning.

10-4

I've been using it with no problems but it's just as easy to do an uninstall using the installer. I'll do it this way from now on.

It is true, that using either the Install program such as hoster408setup.exe or going through Add/Remove Programs does the exact same thing.

They both fire off our installer to remove the software. So this will work for either one without any problems, just 2 different ways to get there.

Bryan is correct. Using either method, you'll be presented with the same panels and the same options. InstallShield registers the installation program (hoster408setup.exe, for example) with the Add/Remove Programs in Windows. That way, either one can be run, and the results will be the same.
