Hoster 4.06 install

I just purchased Hoster 4.06 upgrade. I have 3.316 already installed on 2 computers. I entered the email and reg. code for the upgrade. It got down to the point of install and said that it never found an original version of Hoster to upgrade. Tried both computers. However, it would have continued with the install, but I cancelled it. Is that normal? Thought I better ask before I messed up??

Did you use "Upgrade" or "Remove" install?
You have to use the "Upgrade" install and have the previous version installed on the computer before you do it.
Do you have it installed (3.316) on the C: drive in the normal place or did you change the location when you installed it? This can also make a difference.
If it doesn't find the previous version it will not install the upgrade. It will complete the installation program but nothing will be installed.

What exactly did the message say?
You didn't happen to change email addresses at the same time you ordered the upgrade did you?
Try upgrading to 3.321 (in Support Downloads area) with your 3.316 reg code. Then upgrading to 4.06. Not sure it will work but it is worth a try.

I think I remember this coming up when 4.0x first came out. It was because the version installed was too old to be eligible for the upgrade.

Thanks so much for your help. I had already tried to upgrade to 3.321, which didn't work. It took that upgrade and worked fine but still didn't change any thing for the 4.06 upgrade. The email idea was good. And I had switched some time ago but I've done several upgrades since then.

I had summited a ticket 5 days ago and as of yet gotten no reply. So I came back here to check my thread for help. When you asked for the exact error message I went through the steps again to get that and ,low and behold, it worked. The only thing different from the last failure is that time has passed. Well, maybe the computer might have been restarted.

I hope you guys know what a help you are. That's why I wanted to get back to you with a follow up. Even though I don't know what to make of it. The upgrade is rebuilding my data base as I'm sending this. Maybe it's smooth sailing from here.
Thanks again.
