External Hard Drive Maintenance

I have all my CDG's and Video's tucked real nicely into my 500GB external. I am in the process of backing it up to another external. Hoster is working great no issues, and for someone as stupid as i am that is amazing in and of itself. Yes...i did it without any help, other then from this wonderful forum. Now..is there any periodical maintenance i should do to the external? Like a disc clean up, or Defrak? anything. Or again..leave well enough alone? George

The only thing I can say periodically check the fragmentation and defrag when necessary. Also run checkdsk occasionally to check for any bad sectors. Other than that there is nothing you can do....except dust if off once in a while.
