Billy, think about it. How many full-size laptop problems have you seen on here lately since version 4 came out? Do you really think something that small would be able to handle it?

I have been thinking about it too. I would get it only if I could install XP (never used Vista), and would double (even triple) check the video card and ram and HD storage should be more than enough as well. And if it didn't work easily at all times with Hoster, I could always use the 30 day return policy that most laptops and/or stores have. Keep your receipt!

it's window xp home edition, intel atom processor ( don't know what that is compare to other processors ) 1.60 ghz ,it's got a 2 or 3gb of ram, have a lot of hhd space 120gb ( some of them only comes up with up to 16gb ssd,(solid state hhd, very expensive from what i've heard)and most or maybe all of them don't come with cd/dvd drive, you have to get an ext. one, it's dual display capable ,i've been reading about it for about a month now, and it's good for running dj stuff but you have to have an ext. drive to store all your music files, and i'm not sure if it's good to run hoster, if your geting one, let me know how it works, i almost got one for $379. from a leading store..( still contimplating of getting one) if i could use it

hmm, 379 is NOT very expensive at all from the specs you quote, send me the website and I'll order one and let you know how it turns out?

Don't do it Bryant. The presence of on-board graphics is enough to tell me it will not work. It would probably work with 3.321, but not 4.x. It may not even work then without some tweaking.

Acer, Dell and Lenovo, and i think some other major brands carries them too, go to their web site and read about them before contimplating of getting one just to make sure if it will work for you, might not work just like Marklwood said.

I use a laptop with integrated graphics AND has vista as a OS .I use 4.06 and it has worked flawlessly sinceV4.06 - Released October 20, 2008

was released and i set it up right it works 3 nights a week for three to five hours each of those nights and no hick ups

Hoster to me seems to work well and is not that demanding its whats on laptops that run in the background that steal resources.

I only use this laptop for hosting ..nothing else everything non essential is switched off.

I think many laptops are capable of running hoster if you take the time to set them up properly and switch everything off that you dont need.

I would agree that it is not impossible. The only reason I said that was a number of problems that people are having seems to always boil down to integrated graphics. If the Bios is set up correctly to dedicate memory for video, that would get you half way there. The only problem with that is the CPU and the GPU still have to use the same bus to access memory at a slower speed than dedicated on-board memory. The second half of the equation is to not have ANYTHING that is not ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY running in the background. After all that you would still be left with a low powered Atom processor. This why I would not recommend one of these mini laptops.

Also have they got s-video out. As I mentioned In Another post. A lot of new computers do not have this feature. My Friend has just bought a new Sony computer and it only has HDMI output which can cause hook up to second monitor problems.

Both my laptops have onboard graphics cards, and they are just enough to work with VDJ and Hoster, except one has a little trouble with VDJ videos. I did mention that I was going to get the precise specs on video cards before I do buy, and am well aware of a thirty day money back guarantee I would have to see first, then if I have problems, back it goes, if it works with videos on both VDJ and Hoster, then I keep, really a simple concept.

Hmmm, with an ext. HDD, and an ext. dvd drive, your over the size of a regular laptop alone, so really haven't saved any real space on the DJ/KJ table. That would be my first goal.

I was curious too. If the sig is correct, he has the Intel x3100. That coupled with the 667MHz bus speed would be better than most. I would also like to know how the bios is set to dedicate the ram for video.

How about it Robster?

Still collecting data on/against NVidia.

I've been using an HP NC6000 14.1 inch for years. They are down to about $200 on eBay and you can upgrade the internal (PATA) hard drive up to 250GB. I have my songs on the internal hard drive (10,000) and still have plenty of room. The have an ATI with s-video out. The sound is fine out of the earphone jack and they are small.
