4.06 Lyrics still out of sync.
I just upgraded to version 4.06 from 4.05 and I still get lyrics out of sync with Vista. Did all the steps required before installing and still. Oh and after installing I get this message "Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product Hoster. The Windows installer cannot continue." I uninstalled hoster a couple times and still got that message when installing. I clicked ok and hoster installed.
Hoster 3.4 does work perfectly I must say do i'm sticking to it. I do miss the new features though. I'll wait patiently until all the problems are worked out. Has anybody had these problems on Vista home premium? I have all the latest Vista updates by the way. |

The other issue is lyrics sync. Please do not think I am trying to be offensive here but... If you have done all of the changes to Vista that are listed on the linked page during the install, you are the only person who still has this problem. Please go back and verify all the changes. You may have missed something or something may have accidentally been changed by you or one of your DJs. If you are still having problems, post back here with your computer specs and any other programs that may be running in the background. |

Hoster 3.4 works perfect!
I don't understand why 4.06 still has sync issues and 3.4 works perfect on my laptop. Has to be the latest version. Don't you think?

I have found that with enough horse power (dual 256mb video cards, super fast processor, and 3gb ram) I was able to run Vista without the tweaks as long as ABSOLUTELY NOTHING was running in the background. I believe it is a memory management problem with Vista and can not be "fixed" by MTU. Microsoft has decided that we can not be trusted to run our own systems and they needed to step in. This is how we got Vista. Every idiot who openes attachments in email has to be protected. I think they should just come out with a version for my grandmother and leave the rest of us alone ![]() |

Version 4.06 has been nearly completely rewritten with all new code for a new player, Singer's Database, modified the header to add some new fields, new marquee, new Singer's Name Display, and a lot of changes you don't see. As Marklwood said all the major bugs have been worked out of this version either by them changing the code in Hoster or by figuring out what has to be done in Vista and XP to make it work right. If you skipped one of the steps or didn't change it exactly the way they listed, then you are going to have problems. With laptops one of the biggest contributors to the sync problem is not enough dedicated memory to video and/or not enough memory for the system.

Hey Rick,
What kind of file was it that did not play? Are you using the old video player or the new one? Do you see the Hoster Logo Video everytime you open Hoster? MTU added the Logo Video so the video settings in Hoster were correct before we started playing any files. If you opened Hoster and did not see the Logo Video before Hoster was ready to use, the "sync settings" for Hoster may not have been set so to speak, a computer glitch. When you restarted Hoster, it fixed it. I've tested well over 50 versions of Hoster 4. Every once in a while with some beta's, what you decribe here happened BUT once I restarted Hoster, it never happened again (on XP). You should only see this once. It's like Hoster (4.06) needs to adjust for the system it's installed on. Once this is done it runs rock solid. If you are not using the old player, give it a go and see it the problem disappears. Jim,
Not sure which player (old or new) is on the show computer, and it's out in the van, so I'll check it and get back to you! I got used to running the first song on playlist (usually a warm up/ test for video) for a bit, and then restart to get rid of any sync problems. That was version 4.03 or 4.04 I think, then I dropped video down to 16 bit and updated drivers in video card, and sync problems disappeared. Using 4.06 now and by habit I continued to do the start/restart at beginning. Then Friday nite show, forgot/tried it without start/restarting and sync problem occurred and after restarting ran show without a glitch. So I'm trying to see what I need to fix, in order not to have the first song sync issue. Thanks! Rick Rikki Tikki Karaoke |

Okay Rick,
I never see this this problem anymore (haven't for quite a while) so we'll have to work off of your reports. Keep me posted. Jim ![]()

Hey Rick, how quickly did you start playing the first song? I am still able to occasionally get a problem when I get in a hurry. Either I hit play as soon as I can after Hoster opens up, or when I panic and hit pause, play, skip very quickly.

Jim,
OK, got show computer out and started Hoster, checked for player, and NEW is installed. Started a trial song (kma) and sync issue was there. Switched to OLD player, and restarted Hoster with a different song and sync issue is still there. Hoster starts with MTU logo each start, and then I have my own logo that appears in the intermission screen. Add first song to playlist, hit play, and out of sync issue is there, until I restart, then no more problems, until next restart of Hoster program. Marklwood, Yeah, I normally don't rush or panic. ![]() ![]() Sooooo...? Thanks Guys! Rick Rikki Tikki Karaoke Rick Rikki Tikki Karaoke |

Rick,
Does this happens every single time you start a song in 4.06 the first time you open Hoster 4.06? Are you saying you can go back to 4.05 and and the problem does not happen? The one time I saw a consistant sync problem with a Beta, it was due to a video driver issue. Here's the weird part, the lasted drivers were causing the problem. I had to try TOO MANY old drivers until I found one that my video card liked. ![]() ![]() You say you: Quote:

Jim,
Normally I start with a fresh playlist, unless I had a few residue songs that I didn't get to in the previous show. 4.05 had the issue where the original playlist would come back after you turn on next show, and all I do is delete any residue and start a new playlist for each show. Also had the original playlist without modifications ( songs that had played already, or rotation changes, deletions, etc. ) pop up when you had to revert back to 3.4 during 4.05 version. I haven't ran 4.06 that many times but will try a few of your suggestions, and wait for others to report whether they incurred the same problem, before I figure out what is causing it. Very minor glitch, and it won't keep me from experimenting with new effects. I dont use videos or instabuttons right now, so those are future items that I may or may not use during show, but want to familiarize myself with the newest features, so I can improve my show as we travel towards 4.10 with MTU. Thanks for the help! ![]() Rick Rikki Tikki Karaoke |

Rick,
I figured you started with songs sometimes and without songs others (like me), it was just a thought. ![]() I think you will find that 4.06 is better overall than 4.05. I just click on a shourtcut to Hoster in the area next to my Start button, wait for 4.06 to load then start working with it. I don't use any start/restart procedure. As far as I know Rick, you are the only person who has reported that Hoster 4.XX runs the first song out of sync everytime on XP. ![]() Of course, get all of the Windows Custom Updates....bla ba bla. Install 4.06, use the old player and run it for a day or two. Everytime I upgrade to a new version of Hoster, I set up a five hour test playlist in auto mode and just let it run. Maybe this lets Hoster adjust to my system. Just another thought. ![]() If you find that you have to run your MUX videos in 3.40 (you should be able to run them in 4.06 with the old player), be sure to open 4.06 first. They will run side by side, with both open at the same time. Just minimize the one you are not using. ![]() ![]() Jim ![]()

Jim,
It's got to be a video card issue. It's only on my show computer that I get the out of sync issue, so I'll check for updates and driver changes that may be affecting that card, and see if I overlooked something! Thanks Again! Rick Rikki Tikki Karaoke |

Jim, I think your nuts! ![]() I don't know how Hoster would "adjust" to a system. That implies "learning" and the type of code that can "self modify" is today called a VIRUS! We don't have any files that could do what you are implying. I think I understand where you are coming from; Hoster has a problem, you run it several times on the computer, and Hoster no longer has a problem. I'd have to say there is something about the computer's Windows Registry that may be changing. I'd run a Registry Cleaner program. I'm starting to think we should make a standard FAQ about this, and provide a link to a free cleaner program that we all know and trust will do the job. Quote:
One other question, please tell us about your: Processor Type (Intel/AMD, Celeron, Duron, P4, Core2Duo, etc.): Processor Speed: RAM: Video RAM: We have found that AMD processors can't do the same math that Intel's do cause Intel has a patent that AMD can't circumvent. We also are starting to think that you may need at least a 2GB processor to run 4.0x. Don't know yet, and your stats will help us understand this more. For example, if you have a 1GB Celeron, that may be the problem. Bryan (MTUSUPPORT) has identified that some of the cheaper HP laptops coming out now with Celerons just don't have the Umpft to do the job. ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() Show Computer was put together by employee of MTU in 2004. It's a Compal DCY30-Intel P4- 2.8 ghz- 1.5 g ram. I'll have to look and find how much video ram it has, as that or the video card/drivers may be where I am getting the sync problem. At least that is where I am going to start! Will check it later after a little shut-eye, and report back to you! Thanks! Rick Rikki Tikki Karaoke |

My show computer has 64 mb of video memory. Its a Radeon ATI 9100. Guess that may be under the recommended amount. I will look into purchase of another card and see if it will solve my sync issue. Rick |
