Cool KMA file question

I have 2 XP laptops that seem to be operating fine on 4.06 thanks to a few of you that have taken time to help others. I am a stickler for consistency and have done, and plan to do the following:

I have an "F Book" external drive that I use for backup from my primary laptop. So I have created a kma file on F. When I add a new disc to my primary LT, I can also drop the files into F. This to me gives me complete safety not to loose everything.

The number and size of files on my primary machine does not match the number and size on my backup. I want to be able to print a songbook from my primary and have it match the backup exactly. I am getting ready to delete all kma files from my backup LT and drag and drop kma files from F drive to the backup.

I have looked at the manual on "rebuilding" the songs data base but its not clear on what I am wanting to do. Also, a thread search on this topic didn't turn up anything recent. It appears that the songs database will rebuild automatically, but I'm not sure.

Can anyone give me a good reason NOT to do this or specific instructions (if needed) on how to handle the new files on the backup LT after I delete the current ones and drag and drop the external HD (F) files.

May your microphone batteries last forever!

Once you have removed the files from the backup LT and copied the files from the external in place of them, just do a rebuild of the database (on backup LT) and the two laptops should then match. Your songbook for one should be exactly as the other since the bookid is stored in the header of each KMA file and will be entered in the database the same way when you rebuild it.

Thanks Dale, I was hoping it would be that easy but you can't be too careful. A question for you.......seems like in a previous post you mentioned a subscription to Sound Choice? How does that work?

www.soundchoicestore.com

It used to be $25 and you get a decent polo shirt and a custom built (by you ) SC CDG, and their newsletter.

I thought I read in a previous post that someone's source of discs was a monthly subscription. I was thinking it was Sound Choice, but may have been another source. I searched "discs" and "sound choice" but got no returns.

I think there are several. I subscribe through www.doowop.com for the Monthly Chartbuster Country Hits. Of course most of my singers are Country singers. There are several options that you can subscribe too from that site and I am sure someone will jump in here with some more sites when they get time.

If you are looking for subscriptions, Top hits monthly used to provide their country pop rock and urban tracks as a subscription. Karaoke.com offers something similar. All I was talking about was the testimonial LONMAN gave on sound choice products on sound choices' website.
