Thumbs down Can't PLAY video files?????

I do recall reading where we won't be able to Import Video into the database yet - OK, fine!

But when will the MUX be available? Some vocals are on the right and some on the left, so some come up with the vocals. What am I supposed to tell my singers who have been singing those songs for 2 years now?????

Also, VCDs are in .dat format, and OFKs and Pioneers are in .mpeg format. Under "Files of Type", it needs to have "All files" added. Otherwise I have to keep changing the "TYPE" back & forth in order for the songs to even show up in the list so they can even be added.

If I can't at least play everything that played before, then why did I spend the money to upgrade - just for a fancy Display screen??????

It does not have an All Files because it won't play all video files. For those you have been using that aren't support you will have to use 3.4. MTU can only fix so much at one time.

Its NOT a Fix - videos (dat & mpeg with MUX) played fine for 2-1/2 years. If I have to use 3.4 like people have been doing the last couple months while 4.0 was being FIXED, then why bother paying for an upgrade when things don't work that worked in 3.321

Hey Again Sky,
It's a broke and a fix. MTU has rewritten Hoster so many times in a whirlwind trying to get around Vista's crap that they "broke" a couple of things and you may have found one. They will get it back.

Are you saying you can't use 4.03?

Thumbs down Too many problems!

I'm not saying that I can't use 4.3, only that things that worked fine for almost 3 years, now don't work at all. I have only a few singers that sing from the Videos, but they are steady customers. I don't want to tell them that they can no longer sing what they are used to just because the MUX buttons no longer work. Good thing I only put 4.03 on my old laptop that I am now keeping as a backup. I haven't changed anything on my Show computer. THANK GOODNESS!!! I am upset, however, that I paid almost $70 for a program that no longer does what it used to do!!!!

The fancy new features in the Show Display may be fun, and I understand that MTU has had numerous problems because of Microsoft & Vista. But, in my opinion, sacrificing what has always worked before in order to have these nice, but unnecessary features, is simply not accetpable! So, if you have to go back to 3.4 in order to do a Show, then why pay for an upgrade?

After spending many hours reading posts for several months now, I now feel that MTU should not have even released any 4.x versions until all the bugs were fixed. I am sure they are upset as well, but that doesn't change all the hours everyone has put in trying to work with an unstable program!

Get a refund if all of this is too much for you and go back to using your previous version until Hoster 4 provides all of the features you want. You can check this by trying the demos when they are released. I have used Hoster 4.0X for over a month now 5 nights a week and there's no way I'll go back to 3.XX.

The video MUX will be fixed in 4.04. Video is top piority in 4.04.

MTU could hire folks to weed through their programs and find every little bug before a release but it would make the cost of the program go up conciderably. I personally am honored to that MTU even listens to our suggestions but when you see one in a new release, WOW they DO listen to us. I've never seen this with any other software development company.

Different yes, bad I don't think so, a pain in the butt sometimes.

Jim, I really do appreciate what you are saying. I have been a loyal MTU customer since 1996 and I do agree that their Customer Support has been and still is Superior.

There are simply too many features that no longer work that did before to be able to use in a Show. The cost is a factor also because in this area many clubs have cancelled entertainment altogether several nights a week, so I don't have the income that I had to justify the expense. And the time needed to make everything work is excessive, especially for a married woman with a disabled husband. I need to be able to just do my job & come home - not spend countless hours trying to make things work!

Do you know - how long to I have to ask for a refund? Then I can upgrade once all the bugs have been worked out and 4.x works as good as 3.321.

Skybird, I too realize you are upset as have been a few people along the development way with version 4. However since you have already spent the money and you have 3.4 to use which is the same as 3.321 why not wait and use it until the rest of the fixes get released. All of the fixes that are currently being worked on including the MUX for videos will be free upgrades. It won't cost you anything but time. Does it really make since to ask for a refund now just to buy it again in a short time?

Dale, I guess you're right. No, I really don't want to start over, again! I have become very frustrated and lost faith. (even considered different software) After waiting over 2 years just for the singers list, I only hope our wait isn't much longer till everthing is working smoothly again, as in the past.

From what I've read, is it true that 3.4 is the same as 3.321a, with no added features? AND, the MUX on videos works the same as in 3.321????? If so, then I will keep 4.03 on my BU to get familiar with the new features. I still have 3.321 on my Show computer, so I see no reason to upgrade it until I feel confident to do so!

Try 3.4 and see. The only thing they changed was to allow it to be used with your 4.0 registration number.
