Just Purchased 3.321

I just purchased Hoster 3.321 July 2, from what I understand in order to
upgrade to the 4.2 I have to pay another $69. From reading alot of the posts on here 4.0 was already available at the time I bought mine, so can anybody tell me why it wasn't offered, or maybe it was and I didn't get that one because I am running Vista, but I guess my question really is Does anyone know if I can download the new version without paying the upgrade fee. I understand that it is probably worth it, but it just seems I think I should have been made aware that the new one would be available so soon.

Bonnie,
Hoster 4.0 was released July 16th, 2008. There has been a post available with updates on Hoster 4.0 since May 31st, 2008.

4.0x upgrade

Bonnie, Just a quick question... Did you check your emails from MTU lately? Shortly after 4.0 was released, they sent me one with the details, since I'd just bought my copy May 30th (ish), and it was a 100% free upgrade.

Bonnie according to Admin they will be sending out newsletters to all the Hoster users with upgrade coupons priced according to their previous purchase date. Hold on for a day or two.

Thanks for the info, just checked my email, nothing there as of yet, hoping i get something soon have been busy putting all my cd's in and am hoping that the database has updated if not I will be busy for the next 6 months entering all my new music, I can't believe how out of date the database is unless I am doing something wrong. When I do use the online database it comes back with some titles and artists but wants to use the same book ID for every one. Anybody tell me what's up with that.

The version you have currently does not have any updates for the last 3 years (none were available). 4.02 will have some updates but the difference is that as we enter new discs those will be sent to MTU so they can add them to the database and get updates to the rest of us. This is just getting started so won't be much help yet.
The online database is actually a link to FreeDB which is a contributor filled free online database not associated with MTU. The problems with it include many mistakes, Artist names are listed as First Name Last Name (Hoster is set up for Last Name, First Name) and they do not use DiskIDs (so they always come up with the same one).
If you use the on-line database to look up the disks and it returns the information, first check it against the disk to be sure it is right. Next check the Artists names and make sure they are in the correct format. Next change the Brand and DiscID to match your disk, but do not click on either database search again. Select all of the files either click Next or enter a bookid for this disk and then import them.

I think the most I put in in one day was 40 discs going back to back. Took about 10 hours ripped at 192.

Talking Good Ol' Days !!!

Remember when you only had about 25 discs, and everybody was happy to find a song that they knew?

Now we have to worry about deleting the versions that aren't quite as good because of sound, graphics, etc.

20,000 songs is nothing!!! The average jukebox used to be great if it had 1000 songs!

Ah yes, the good ol' days!

I'm sure you will be hearing from me again.
