![]() OK,
I am running 4.01 Lite on a new laptop, all updated, 4 GB RAM, 4.01 is working near perfect. I get a kick out of the insta buttons (Cheech and Chong's Officer Stadanko "This stuff can cause brain Damage")...Ok enough of the fun..here is my question: On the lyrics diplay, I have it set to show next 3 singers and elapsed time. Really nice .....but I noticed as the first (or any song) plays, the time elapsed does not change (on singer's screen or Hoster screen). It just stays at a nominal value until the song ends.....here is the fun part. If I click anywhere in the Hoster window, the time magically updates and counts down to the next singer. So, if i keep on clicking in the Hoster GUI window it will countdown 3:21....3:20.....3:19...etc. until the song ends and it resets to the next time. Alright, so I am don't beleive in magic....what setting am I missing, or is there a bug someone knows about? I love this program...but have 3.4 just in case |

The elapsed time in both the playlist and the singers display are not supposed to change until the start of the next song. The time that will countdown is the Duration column block for the song that is currently playing. The elapsed time is to help your singers "estimate" how long before they sing. To make those update constantly would more than likely interfere with the song currently playing, so it is determined from the time a song starts and stays on the screen until it is over and then gets recalulated for the next song.

Makes sense to me.....
Dale,
I know you have helped lots of folks out here. Thanks for setting me straight on that one. Another cool feature that I am learning to appreciate. Cannot wait for next Friday, Neice wants me to do a show after their rehearsal dinner and they don't know I've gone digital....no more discs, no more searching through piles of them....totally cool software. The folks at MTU have been very good to me as well..I bought Lite 3.321 and when 4.0 (4.01) came out, there was a registration issue (bug) with the 3.4 version (I use as backup). I wrote them and within a day, they sent me the 3.4 .exe direct and is working beautifully (as well as 4.01). I have not run into issues yet with 4.01 (except for inexperience with how the software really works!) Thanks again Dale |

Brain Damage
7 Years ago it was given to me by a friend who sent me an email about something we had done. We were flying down a hill in WV woods (Mountain bikes) and we came around a corner (left turning) and the river had washed the trail out. We both grabbed trees on our left side and the M bikes were still clipped to our feet ......a sight to behold. We managed to somehow NOT go down the steep bank theat the swollen river had eroded (river at the time was back at normal pool). That's the story of how I got it

So sorry, I know that I should have started a new thread but I am unable to figure out how to start a new one, so I'll just ask a simple question here. I downloaded Hoster 4.01 demo on laptop with XP and transfered some KMA songs to a new folder on my desktop and liked what I saw. When I tried to do a live key change (both + or -), there was a very distinct lapse in the audio (about 1/2 second or more). Updates are all in order. Will this go away with a full install?
I'm running a Toshiba 1.6g with 1024 memory Regards and thanks, Dave |

There is a lag in the change so you can click the + or - more than once to get to the desired level. That way you don't hear it drop as each change kicks in, just the final one.
To start a new thread go to the forum you want to post one in from main forum page and look at the top of the list. There is a button called "New Thread".

Dale, Thanks for the info on starting a new thread, I just didn't look hard enough. About the live key change lag, it seems a little bit harsh but, I understand the reasoning. I'll just make sure I change it before it plays or, after play has started, I'll change it with the mixer.
Regards to all, Dave |

I brought the key change "on the fly" issue to MTU's attention and in one of the beta versions, they made it so there was a delay before the key changes so we could say click the + button three time and we would only hear one change which was great, but it caused problems eleswhere in the program and they set it up like it is now. Once they get Hoster 4 stable for Vista I'll suggest they try this again. Like you, I miss being able to make any key change "on the fly" hearing only one change. It's a trade of and I'm with you on this one. ![]() If you can, type the key change in key column of the playlist before the song starts playing. This way you don't have to wait for the track to start running before you can change the key. Also the singer database saves a key setting for each song. ![]() ![]() Jim ![]()

Jim, thanks for your input. I understand the reason for the audio delay, but like you I'll be missing the instant key change feature and I will be using the key change feature on my mixer. Using the mixer will stop any audio delay and stop the confusion it will certainly cause.
When you said "the singer database saves a key setting for each song", did you mean that the singers database will remember the key change that was made after the song has started (I still have the demo version), or do you have to edit the database to include the new (on the fly) key change. The best way to do it is to set up any key changes before the song has started, but this would be impossible if you use any imported songs from the hard drive. Regards, Dave |

When you add a song to the singer databse, you can set the key change and it will be saved with the song info in the singer database.
You can also change the key setting of a saved song in the singer database. ![]() This should work in the demo, don't know myself. I'm too busy working with the latest beta releases to try the demo. ![]() ![]() ![]() Jim ![]()

Set Key Change in Data Base
Hey guys just checkingout this thread and noticed one little discrepency.
You can edit the database for the singer. Highlight the song you wish to change hit the + or - in the database window and click the SET TEMPO button this will change and save the new key. Chuck |

Actually it is the Key not the Tempo, but you are right. I had forgotten about that being in there. Just remember though that changing it in the playlist does not change it in the singers database.

That's right Dale I should have been more specific the button is actually called "SET KEY- TEMPO" this is greyed out until you have a song highlighted and use the + - keys to change key.The Tempo change is mot as of yet active.
