Static noise on audio and video
I just purchased hoster 4.0 and installed it to my desktop computer with XP home edition. First, I selected my kma files on the playlist I used on hoster 3.321, when I Play the song it started with a static noise on video and audio (video screen flicker with static audio for couple of secs.) and notice that video/lyric lags the audio, the timing was really off. I play around with the same song couple of times, this time I play the same song and hit the "pause" button and let it pause for couple of seconds or until the video screen stop flickering and video start to stabilize and hit "resume" button it seems to synchronize with the audio. But when I just "pause" for longer period, the video/lyric still going without the audio. Weird.
THis goes the same with mp3+g files. On the Video files, I used mpg (I ripped all my vcd in mpg file format) and play it using video tab, it play good except I could not cancel the vocal because the mux buttons(stereo, no vocal button) was greyed out on this mode. Just to let you know, all the files I used have no problem playing on hoster 3.4or 3.316. also notice, the L and R audio channel was missing, I was hoping this "no vocal" button would work the same as to cancel vocal on R when hit once and you hit again will cancel the vocal on L. Hoster 4.0 have same good new functions but I haven't get the chance to try it. The scrolling message were great except I could not turn it off or control it on and off. When press the show button it just put the message on the beginning. I hope there is a way to turn this on and off. Same for the Singer window. While the song is playing. I have Window Xp Home edition with IE7 and WMP11 and all custom updates and still experiencing a lot of problem on hoster 4.0 but everything works fine on 3.4 and this tells me that all my files were good. I purchased hoster 4.0 quad. I could use the hoster 3.4 but I want to try the instant button for my effects because I'd been using winamp for all my sound effects. And the volume slide were great idea also. I just wait for the next release upgrade before I try again 4.0

I am not sure about the static or popping you have as none of the beta testers ever had any problems with that. Try setting the music level (slide) a little lower and see if that helps. It sounds like your audio card is activating only when audio is detected instead of being on all the time and waiting for input. What audio card do you have in your computer?
As far as your other questions yes the marquee can be turned on and off (hidden). Read through the manual on Menu-Tools and it gives a very good explaination of how to set-up your various screens.

The static noise happen at the beggining of every songs, as you hit the play button the beggining is always unstable, screen begin to flicker and created static noise noise on audio, this happen in the beginning of every song as the video and audio is trying to stabilize. This does not happen on previous version.
I could only Hide the Marquee message/ scrolling message after each song played because show display dialog is greyed out when a song is playing. The Show button would not do anything except start the scrolling message at the beggining of the screen. It will be nice feature if I hit the show button the first time and the scrolling will start and hit in again the message goes off, just like the send button on previous version (hit it once in will show the singer window and hit again it will hide it) Perhap I got a bad Download because I don't have static noise when I played the song on 3.4 I play around with the insant buttons and this feature was great, it's just I could not use 4.0 yet on this computer (back-up) my main computers still has hoster 3.321 and working well I will install hoster 4.0 on another computer and see what happen?

The Show Display command is set to not be openable during play. All changes have to be made when no songs are playing. The changes to the Lyrics screen will show the next time a song is played.
Each screen has the capability of hiding or showing the Marquee and singers list, so you can customize those to your liking. My preference is to have the Marquee show only during the Intermission screen. The Show Button is for resetting the Marquee after you make changes to its content which you do through the Marquee button which can be used while a song is playing. Do you happen to have some kind of equalizer or limiter/normalizer running on your computer? Maybe included with your sound card software? If so you could try disabling those and see if it that helps.

![]() i have an hp with the conexant high definition audio card but if this was causing the audio pop then shouldn't it effect both 3.4 and 4.0
i am only experiencing this problem with 4.0 the audio is fine with 3.4 also i was wondering if the preset instabuttons will be added in the later versions of hoster such as cheering, applause ect. |

The rendering code that sets up and plays the audio and video for 4.0 is a totally rewritten code so no the two programs do not work the same. Version 3.4 is using the old code. This is because the display method is totally different for 4.0 to all the additional items on the display such as the marquee and to be able to use the Intermission screen, etc.
So no they don't use the same set-up and that is why they act differently. No preset Instabuttons. You have to set up your own. There are and lot of sites on the internet that have free sound effects that you can download and use or you can purchase a CD with a lot of them on it.

Dale, thanks for all your reply. I'm using external sound card/ module and re-set it to normal operation. Still having the same problem. What's weird on my problem, is the video lags the audio and if I pause the song for a long period of time, the video still continue. Perhap is the rendering code, because it happen on all kma files and mp3+g.
How about the Video file(mpg), Why can't I removed the vocal? I guess I have to reformat my hard drive and do a clean installation on my OS, do my updates again and re-install hoster 4.0 again. Or just wait 'till the next upgrade. Thank you very much, again.

If I remember correctly there was a problem trying to get this working and it wasn't fixed before release time, so they greyed it out. This should be fixed in a future update.

To Dale Douglass,
I played around with Hoster 4.0 yesterday, figuring why I'm getting distorted Video and audio (whick causing the static noise) in the beggining of every song I play using KMA's and mp3+g files and found out the following; 1. When connected to a TV (dual mode or extended to a TV mode), the beggining rendering of the file to extend it (show) to the external tv is unstable causing distorted video and audio (causing the static noise) and enough to have video to lag the audio. Causing hoster 4.0 to behave abnormal. 2. when not connected to A TV (single mode) and playing the song with just my computer monitor and showing the singer screen (full size or small size) on the computer monitor, the beggining distorted portion(unstable) of the song is unnoticeable and not enough to cause the lagging problem and hoster behave normal. I have Nvidia Geoforce 7300 GS and have updated firmware. I'm not sure if my graphic card is causing the problem. I'm just taking the consideration that it works normally on previous hoster version (3.4, 3.16 and other Karaoke softwares I have and other Dvd software I used to play my movies with the tv connected. I will try the same on other graphic card and see if hoster will behave the same. Maybe due to changes in rendition code in 4.0 causes this behavior. I remembered seeing this in this forum. Finally, I found a workaround so I could use the full Features of Hoster 4.0 with the help of hoster 3.4. I open both at the same time and use the stable 3.4 for playlist and use hoster 4.0 for the instant buttons for my effects and message marquee with extra benifits of the send button for singers name that I could controll on and off. Again Dale, Thanks very, very much for your replies. I'm looking forward to the next upgrade.

Are you switching between Hosters or have you figured out a way to get both on the screen at the same time?
I will pass this on to MTU and see if they can figure it out. The thing I am seeing on my desktop is basically the same thing except the lag is with only one screen (no TV) unless my video card is thinks there is a TV along side.

I'm switching between two hosters, 3.4 is on top of 4.0 on singer screen (TV). The 3.4 screen is smaller size than 4.0 up top botton side of the scrolling message of 4.0 all the way down to the bootom screen of my TV. So when I play my song 3.4 singer screen would come out on top of my 4.0 intermission screen (with singer name hidden on intermission screen). Then when I play my song I will pause my song up to part the host will see the title of the upcomiing song and pause it, then hit my send button to display my singer name (on and off display) and if needed hit instant button for effect (at this instant singer screen will go blank but pressed 3.4 right to bring back 3.4 screen but effcet still going on. anyway most of the time I used effects is between songs if I have to use it with the song I used winamp where I have the playlist of all my needed effects and my screen would not go blank.
I still believe that lagging problem on video/lyric and audio is caused by rendition code on both video and audio which is not noticeable when you only used your computer screen as singer screen, but greatly show the distortion when your graphic card is neeed to show it to your TV screen.

Have you tried turning off the Automatic Start in 4.0 and using the SND in 3.4. That way 4.0 should not interupt the screen at all but would still play the sound effects from the instabuttons?

My audio problem is a little different. I noticed when I brought up hoster and attempted to play a song, there was no audio. I went to my control panel and opened up my"sounds and Audio" and noticed the volume slider was set to low. I moved it to high and all was fine. It stays that way as long as I stay in hoster. BUT, If i shut hoster down, and then open it back up, it automatically shuts down my volume. Any ideas what is causing this.

Hoster sets your audio level back to what it was when you opened it. So go to the controls first to set it high, then open Hoster and it will be at that setting and will not reset it when it closes.

hey dale,
i really havent had a lot of time to mess with the program, but is there a way to set the volume controls in hoster and have them stay at that level? seems when you shut the prog off and restart it goes back to max volume on the sliders.

No. It records the level the system sound is set at when you open Hoster and resets the system level back to that when you close it.
