The problem is most likely their CD. Often a custom CD will do that or a factory CD that is scratched or dirty. I try to avoid custom CD's and look carefully at the others before trying to load them during a show. If they get their early, I don't mind trying, but I don't like stopping a show because of someone else's problem CD.

That will work if it is not a memory problem.

Admin, has suggested that this problem is resolved if you have enough memory. They recommend as much as possible. I have two running one had 1024 ram, the other 2gb ram, one won't load a song unless hoster is not being used (I take a dj break and load in the song). I have since upgraded to 2048 and viola, less problems. The other I can be running hoster with search open, WMP open and search and my music files open. More memory works, for me. If he is running 512 ram, he needs more.

All the way around, you get the latest upgrades for your operating system, upgrade your ram. system is free, ram is not that costly. Works for me. No offense meant.

Sounds like you might want to get a new one install the 4.01 and then upgrade the old.

After the blue screen did you reload XP and all the updates? Then nothing should stop SP3 from installing just fine now. The chances of blue screening with SP3 are very slim.
I know you upgraded your hard drive but that was not because of SP3 was it? I have never heard of any hard drive being destroyed by software.

Was this laptop originally XP and did you reload it from the mfg system restore disk? If so you need to read the following Microsoft Knowledgebase article and follow its instructions before you instal SP3. Article is located:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888372/en-us

Hope this will help. Most of we beta testers had some problems with 4.0 before upgrading to SP3 and IE7, so I would seriously consider it a must for XP.

my laptop came with the original xp, yes i did use the sys. restore disc.
i had to replaced the cloned 250gb hhd, , and after i reload everything ,the cloned hhd that was in my laptop when it crashed and ( before i updated to sp3, )went from 250gb to 80gb ( after i updated to sp3 )for some reason.( 80gb was the original hhd size that came in with the laptop when i bought it) but with all the songs i had, i only had about 20gigs left..so i ended replacing the hhd with another 250gb and re-cloned .

When these computers and laptops are pre-loaded by mfg they usually take a small section of the hdd as part of the restaore system. This is what messes up the major service packs from Microsoft. Follow that link and install their fix before you install SP3. That should take care of the problem.

i read the link and tell you the truth i really didnt understand or just afraid to follow the how to's, i'm afraid i might get the blue screen if i make a mistake and dont wanna have to re-start from the beginning..if hoster 4.0 will work with sp2 without a problem, i think i'll stick with it. (just like what i read in the forum " if its not broken dont fixed it ") and if you and admin will say that hoster 4.0 will not work with sp2 then maybe i'm out of luck..
