Unhappy Vista Question

I have read the manual and all the threads about Hoster and Vista. Currently any time that I try to upload a CDG while there is a singer, Hoster shuts down. Additionally, I have added new titles from 2005 to present however none of the titles or songs are located. I purchased my MTU products on April 8, 2008. Any help would be great, I am wanting to know if I change to XP will that delete all the discs that I have spent the last two weeks uploading into my system, or is there a way to change from Vista to XP without loosing my files?

Thanks,
Brett

You can only "Add" songs from a CDG to the Playlist while doing a Show. These go into a Temp folder & are then erased after the song has played. Only disks you own can be "imported" (uploaded) into the database. 3.321 now works great with Vista.

Re: Songs added - "Merge" will add new songs to your current database.

First you say none of the files are located? Saying this I presume none can be found on your pc using search? I upload cdg temp files and have uploaded a new cdg while at a gig. I can not do this while hosting karaoke, but do it while I'm playing DJ music. I can stop for long enough to load in a single track from someones disc they brought in and others are patient.

Now for your files that do not appear, click this link and check what I've written in two different areas in that thread. It may help you if you are using an older hoster version and vista. This drove me nuts until I figured it out. I could load in a new cdg and could not find the files on the hard drive, but they would show up on hoster search.

To answer your question about changing from Vista to XP ANY files you want to keep that are on the C: drive will need to be copied to another location like an external drive or an additional internal hard drive. Anything left on the C:drive will be wiped out by the XP install. That includes any programs you have on the computer. All of those will have to be re-installed, so make sure you have your installation disks or in the case of Hoster have the Hoster setup file saved somewhere.

Thank all of you for the responses. As if things did not seem bad enough, I had to back up all my songs and then do a recovery on my hard drive....talking about not the way I wanted to spend my day off. Regardless, I was able to get all the songs back and hoster is working fine. I did find out that I am using hoster 3.321; I have read the manual and need to know if after every new uploaded CDG, do I need to build a database of my songs? The reason that I ask this is that my system is a desk top and I do not have a dedicated internet feed at the facility that I play out of. If I do not need to do this then I am set and ready to go.

Again, thanks for the responses.

When you Import from a CD or from the hard drive, the database is updated automatically with the new additions, so no you do not have to rebuild after importing.
