Hoster KMA merge problem

I installed Hoster 3.316 on a new laptop with Windows Vista. I am using an external hard drive that already has my KMA files on it. I selected the correct drive and folder, clicked the "Merge Into Song Database" button. It appeared to load the songs as I watched it count the files as they were being merged. I then built the songs database, but when I tried to use the program, none of my songs were listed and the pull-downs were empty. I know the KMA files are there because I can see them when I choose the folder to merge. Any suggestions?

Also, I don't know if this is related to my problem, but in another thread, I read a suggestion from ddouglass that read: "The easiest way to fix this and other problems with Vista is to turn off the UNC. There is a FAQ on the Support Page of the Website about how to fix this."
I cannot find how to do this in the FAQ and would like to know how to turn off the UNC in Vista.
