Exclamation Cant get it to work at all!!!!!!!!!HELP!!

I got Hoster Lite to download, and can get it on the screen but first I get a "Important Notice" about a default drive---Then I import songs but when I go to play one, My entire computer screen goes black and it sounds like a record skipping. These are brand new cdg's I am importing from. I have used Hoster at my previous job and never seen anything like this!!! What is going on?????

What Manufacturer's CD/DVD drive do you have?

If your drive is importing black/ or no graphics/lyrics, then it may not be useable for CDG format discs. If this is the case, you will need to replace your drive.

Check and make sure the Tools menu CD/DVD Default Drives... command shows your drive in the window. Also, just to make sure, click the list window, reselect your drive, and click the OK (?) button to exit that dialog and establish your drive as the selected one.

Let us know if that changes anything, or you still have a problem.

The only way that you can get this Black screen with bad audio, is due to your CDR drive not supporting the MMC functions correctly. This is what Hoster now uses to Import discs into the .kma format. This allows us to work with more drives.

Your drive will not work. You will have to replace your drive. The best drive to use is a Plextor model, such as the ones that we sell at www.mtu.com.

If you are looking for a cheap replacement, I have had customers tell me that the Sony drives seem to work pretty good, but you may have some distorted or broken graphics.

I use a brand spankin' new Plextor top of the line 716-UF drive. Seems to work well most of the time, however, just last night I did notice some songs (usually the last or next to last on the cdg) from chartbuster essential IV discs 5 and 6 and 12 specifically are creating some "snowflakes" and one was totallu unacceptable (disc 5 song 15) even after cleaning twice. The disc played fine in a JVC cdg player though.

Why is this happening Admin/support ?

Will I need to replay every two last songs on every disc after importing now, sheesh?

Is this going to be hard to install?? Would an external be easier?? I am so grateful for all your help, I know I am difficult to help being that I am so lost!! I just want an easy to run karaoke system at home and I don' t want to mess with cdgs. Thanks again--oh yeah...can I go ahead and start importing my cdg's to my hosterlite program or do I have to wait until I get this driver??

Well, External is always easier, but the internal is usually much faster. For the internal, If you can follow simple directions, you simply unscrew, and unplug the one in there, and put the new one in its place.

External, is plug it in, and play........however you should have usb 2.0. Usb 1.1 is rather slow (40x slower)

gduns: Mine has a firewire. What does that do? Is that a faster alternative to USB 2.0?

Also, please catch my previous post in this thread, about 5 prior to this one?

Usb2 and Firewire both have a data transfer rate of 480kps. Firewire started out on a Mac computer. Then the Pc's come out with usb2 with the same data transfer rate as firewire.
