Problems with XP Service Pack 2 and Hoster

OK, I had held off on updating my computer to Service pack 2, just because things were running so well without it. But, after seeing that a lot of people have upgraded, and MTU is sending out all new PC's with Service Pack 2, I thought I'd go ahead.

Not sure what happened, but it basically rendered Hoster unusable.

What could the update possibly have changed on my PC?

I have Hoster 2.219 installed.

Audio drops on every single brand of CDG (not just drops, but 5 second pauses), graphics swipes 1 or 2 lines behind the music, etc.

Thankfully, when I did my drive copy, I backed everything up before I made the change, so I can get it all back to normal.

But, until I figure what wnet haywire, I won't be able to upgrade to SP2.

Any thoughts?

you need to reinstall the video drivers. you'll need to get the latest from the manufacturer of your card. the video drivers that come with SP2 don't work well

XP2 changes your video drivers without asking?

Man, that stinks.

MTU, which driver version should I get for the card you sent in my PC?

Re: Problems with XP Service Pack 2 and Hoster

The drivers are the same version that I had prior to Service Pack 2.

Any other ideas as to why it could be acting up now?

For now, going to just run off of the back-up hard drive.

I might try it at the show tonight, and if it acts up again, I'll just go to the other drive.

I can't see any driver changes at all, so not sure what's causing the issues.

Re: Problems with XP Service Pack 2 and Hoster

I had some problems with my user account not being able to run Hoster after the SP2 Upgrade. The adminsitrator account worked OK.

I used system restore and went back to before I put SP2 on and also Direct X 9. I still could not get the user account to work, so I deleted it and just use the adminstrator account. Don't need the grief.

I will not install SP2 again. I never hook to the internet and only use the laptop for Hoster, so why should I take a chance and install it when the program is working well without it?

If I buy another laptop with Hoster installed from MTU, and they put it on and test it and all is working fine before I get it, then OK, but for me out here in the field, I'm not taking any more chances with my present setup.
