trying to get my computer to recognize my kma files from external hard drive

howdy,
my computer's video card recently blew up, so I turned its hard drive into an external drive. I re-downloaded hoster 3.22 on a new computer and have attempted to access the kma files on the external drive to no avail...suggestions? thx

Re: trying to get my computer to recognize my kma files from external hard drive

You have to rebuild your database. First check your computer is seeing the external drive by clicking Start/My Computer, you should see your external drive listed with a Drive letter.
Now from Hoster's tools tab select "Songs Database" then rebuild, in the folder that opens you have to delete all the folders presently showing then select "Add Folder" and navigate to the folders on your external hard drive were you stored your .kma files. then rebuild.

Roy.

Normally, if you replace your external hard drive, then you could just change the Letter on the new one to match the old one. But, if you "old" now "external" has the letter "C", then that's where Hoster knows to look. And you can't keep that letter, because all computers have their operating system on C. So, you have no choice but to rebuild, after giving your external drive a different letter. Hope this helps, too.

Re: trying to get my computer to recognize my kma files from external hard drive

By "rebuild my database" do I take this to mean that I must reread my entire cdg collection or does this just mean that I need to build a new songs database in the tools window of hoster? When I search my "external" drive, which my computer recognizes as drive e:, under the heading .kma I am able to locate the files but that is as far as I have come. Suggestions?
Thx

First - did your files used to be on a "C" drive? and now those same files are on "E"? If so, then it would be best if you Read the Manual on "Rebuilding under Tools". It's easier than explaining it here.
