puter and hoster upgrade

I have used with great success, hoster 3.0 never ever had a problem with it, so I never ever upgraded. kind oflike if it works dont fix it.
I decided to go to a lap top, from conventional puter, so on this past sunday I dont loaded a new upgrade to be installed on my lap top, but cant get it to do anything as far as installing is concerned.
I dont know what to do here to get it to work, can anyone help me do this. I just need this up and running by friday and need help to get there really bad, I have everything downloaded on to an external, but just need to get the program on the new laptop, thank you so much for your help.

3.0 is an old version, you might have to get the upgrade, but before you do make sure you do all the necessary changes and all the custom updates needed in order for the new version to work right.

Did you buy the upgrade or just download it? Going from version 3 to version 4 you have to buy an upgrade or a new full version. What message is the install giving you about why it won't install?
If you buy the upgrade you will have to install the previous version on that laptop before you can install the upgrade. This is to prevent people from buying an upgrade at the lower price when they don't have a previous version license.

Re: puter and hoster upgrade

The new puter, laptop, when trying to install, asks for your rg. code Ive put both the old one where I origianllly bought it and the new they gave me and it will not let the install progress.
When i bought this new version on sunday it said upgrade for any previous version, so that is what I tried to do. I also had the 3.0 version on cd that I bought when I og the thing and tried to install it but it does the same thing when you get to the reg. code. I cant get the laptop to take any of the versions. Dont know what to do here.

Re: puter and hoster upgrade

Hoster Lite or Full version?
If you have Lite it will only install on 1 computer. You will need to uninstall it from the other computer.
You will probably need to put in an emergency support ticket to get your original registration unlocked so you can install the version 3.
If it won't install you should be getting a message from MTU as to why it won't install. It would help if you post the message so we know exactly why it won't install. What does the message say?
Which version 3 do you have?

Re: puter and hoster upgrade

The version that I have and am currently using is 3.00 I have always used this and works wonderful and have never ever had a problem with it. when I paid for the newest version to download onto the new laptop, it says i had version 3.22, even though I know it is 3.00.
None of the reg. codes will work and I can not even install from the original cd to the lap top, I tried that thinking, if I did that then I could download the upgrade, but nothing is working here. Thank you for your help.

Re: puter and hoster upgrade

They may tell you you need to download 3.321 to install first instead of your 3.00. But as well they will need to reset your registry codes for you to install.
What operating system on the laptop do you have? If it is Vista or Windows 7 then there are somethings you need to do prior to installation.

Re: puter and hoster upgrade

This is usually an uninstall error.
If you haven't done so yet submit an Emergency Support Email Ticket from the Support page on the main web page. MTUSupport should be able to get you straightened out and installing.

When you download, don't click on RUN. Use the SAVE button and save a copy to your computer. Do this for both the 3.321 and 4.20.

Re: puter and hoster upgrade

While you are waiting, make sure to do all the Custom Updates from Windows. Namely the .NET framework. Then do all of the other tweaks that are listed in a previous message. ESPECIALLY turning off the UAC. Bothe of these can cause that error.

Re: puter and hoster upgrade

I have installed the new hoster upgrade and thanks to everyone that helped me get it up and running. especially dale, thank you so much.
But as usual being of my age and stuff I dont know that much about this sort of thing, the program is up and running but I can figure how to get it to run off the external hard drive, im sure there is something that I need to click to get it to do that but dont know what. I do think I need to access it and then build a data base but dont know how, I know this is maybe so simple to some but I have spent hours now and cant see how to do it. I have everything I have about 28k songs on the external, but dont seem to be able to get to them. thanks for you guys helping.

Re: puter and hoster upgrade

Go to Tools/Songs Database then Rebuild. Delete the folder path in it and add your External drive folder path. Then click on rebuild at the bottom.
Dan before you start working with this one I would suggest you read through the whole manual. There is a lot of information in it about all the new features that have been added.

Re: puter and hoster upgrade

Dale thanks again for your reply. I have read for over a week now how to do al the stuff that it says on the instructions, and still not get the hoster to rebuild or build a song data base.
I have everything on my external, and I did last night get it to show al the songs that are on there but cant get it to build a data base from the external so I can find songs, by song name book id or artist.
The part I did get to show up is just book numbers and of course you can play from that have to scroll all over to get the song you want.
can you tell me what Im doing wrong here to get the song data base to build. Thank you

Re: puter and hoster upgrade

What do you mean by got it to show all the songs on the external?
Show the songs where?
And how did you get it to show them?

From your explanation it sounds like the songs database is built, but your Search is not set up correctly.

I am guessing you are looking in Search to find the songs. If all you can search by is BookID then you need to make sure the Title and Artist buttons are green colored. If they are not then click once on them and they will turn green meaning that you can search by that too.

Re: puter and hoster upgrade

Dale
We can go into properties and it shows all the songs on the external hard drive, we can slect file to rebuild the song data base and it comes up 0 files to build cant get it to recognize that we dont have the data base.
It shows how much is on the external about 79 gigs but cant get it to build the data base, it always says rebuild, but we have never got it to build I assume this is the same function.
Thanks Dale dont know where Id be without you.

Re: puter and hoster upgrade

Then you have not set the Rebuild up correctly. Check the attached picture and see if that helps.
This is where you have to tell Hoster where to find the songs (not the exact folders list but yours instead).

Re: puter and hoster upgrade

When you select the Tools tab in Hoster and scroll down to" Songs Database" from the window that pops up select" Rebuild." Now in the big window below the Add Folder button, what path is it showing ?

If it is showing something like C:\MTU\Kma files you need to delete this folder, then press the Add Folder button, from the window that opens there select your external hard drive and find the folder with your kma files in, when all your kma files are showing press the select button, now you should arrive back to the previous rebuild window and it should show the folder you selected in the main window, now press the Rebuild Songs Database button at the bottom of the window.

If this all goes well and you want to use the search feature make sure you highlight all the fields you want to search on, the top row should be Green and on the row below that the Karaoke Button Should be orange colour. Then you should be able to enter what you are looking for in the search field and the window below should populate.

Roy.
